This is a paid internship designed for a student to work while completing their degree.
The emphasis of this position will be to assist with the monitoring of the financial condition of FHLBank members, investment and derivative counterparties as well as enhancing the department’s financial data analytics, data visualization initiatives and other reporting capabilities.
In This Role, You Will:Support the review of the financial condition of existing members and housing associates by assisting with the preparation of detailed written financial analysis, forming a credit opinion, call reports, NAIC statutory statements, and SEC filings.
Assist with financial analysis and credit review activities for FHLBank vendors, loan servicers and loan custodians.
Help maintain and monitor regulatory examination processing, including support with ordering, receiving, evaluating, destruction, and follow-up.
Provide support in developing financial data analysis tools (python, data bricks), data visualization (Power BI), and other reporting capabilities.
Assist with analytics related to pledging securities collateral in accordance with minimum eligibility requirements.
Help monitor equity prices and credit default swap spreads for FHLBank publicly traded counterparties.
Twelve hours of college accounting or finance or the completion of at least sophomore year of college working toward an undergraduate degree in finance or accounting is preferred.
One year of similar or related work experience is preferred but not required.
Ability to work independently.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to conduct financial economic analysis, and statistical analysis.
Advanced computer skills are a plus, particularly in spreadsheet (excel) development, Python scripts, and querying methods, data mining/data Analytics, Python, Cognos, or similar report writer and Power BI.
Basic knowledge of financial statements and bank call reports is desirable.
Knowledge and proficient use of MS Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
