Overview:
Evaluate and determine the credit risks of commercial clients through detailed financial statement analysis, Industry assessment, collateral valuation, cash flow analysis and the ability to repay annual debt service.
Determine the estimated loss or loan loss reserve required to cover the credit risk of impaired commercial credits.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the proper calculation of cash flows and loan loss reserves for the legacy loan portfolios by reviewing all pertinent credit and financial information.
- Assist in the estimation of the Lifetime Loss on the Commercial Loan portfolio.
- Maintain a general knowledge of accounting pronouncements and the effect on Bank credits, with a specific focus on the Loan Loss Reserve.
- Coordination of data and processes in support of both Internal and external reporting requirements to Finance, Credit Senior Management, Regulatory reviews, etc.
- Assist in the preparation of the monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements of the department.
- Participate in various Departmental projects.
- Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.

- Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
Scope of Responsibilities:
The position requires substantial interaction with both internal and external contacts in order to obtain pertinent information.
The position acts as liaison between department and other business units on various projects. This position typically interacts with Commercial Banking Relationship Managers and Special Assets.
The incumbent works independently with limited supervision.
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field, and two years of relevant experience, or in lieu of degree, a combined minimum of six years' education and relevant experience.
Strong analytical ability.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field, and two years of commercial credit or similar banking experience.
