We're on a mission to improve the world of work, one shift at a time for 80% of the world’s workforce
The Role
The Creative Director will build a communications team, create high-velocity video content, and develop standout advertising campaigns while ensuring consistent brand narratives and measurable outcomes.
Summary Generated by Built In
Deputy is a global SaaS remote-first workforce management company with hubs in Sydney, Melbourne, San Francisco and London, plus team members working remotely across the United States. Our platform serves over 1.5 million workers and 375,000 workplaces across 100+ countries. We are backed by top global investors and recently achieved Unicorn status.

At Deputy, we’re improving the world of work, one shift at a time, for 80% of the world’s workforce: hourly workers. These are the dedicated employees who keep our world running – from baristas to nurses, cleaners to delivery drivers, florists to factory workers. Despite their vital role in society, most workplace technology has focused on those workers who sit behind a desk, but at Deputy, we transform the frontline. When businesses use Deputy, their workplaces thrive – the business is more profitable, compliant, and productive, while the workers are more engaged and happier at work.

We're becoming an AI-native company, a commitment that means you'll be empowered (and expected) to use AI tools and thinking in your day-to-day work. You'll have the training, support, and freedom to use AI responsibly and creatively to spark ideas, solve problems faster, and unlock new ways of working.

If you’re passionate about creating solutions that put people first and helping businesses and their teams thrive, join us at Deputy and make an impact where it matters most!

The Role

We’re looking for an in-house Creative Director to build and lead a modern creative communications team that makes our products and services impossible to ignore.

This role will be responsible for driving high-velocity, video-first content and high-impact creative advertising, creating distinctive campaigns that shift perception and redefine what B2B software marketing can look like.

You’ll lead content creation and creative across organic social, paid advertising, brand campaigns, webinars, stunts, and events, working closely with media/performance teams to bring ideas to life and drive outcomes.

This is a global role, with priority markets across Australia, the UK, and the US.

With additional markets to follow as the brand scales.

You’ll build a creative approach that can travel — while still feeling locally relevant in each market.

Responsibilities

  • 1) Build a scalable creative engine
  • Build and lead a creative communications team that can concept, produce, and ship at speed using traditional approaches and new AI tools & methods.
  • Create repeatable systems for ideation, production, editing, distributio,n and iteration
  • Establish a sustainable creative rhythm (without relying on hero efforts)
  • Set the creative standard across content, campaigns, and brand moments
  • Be able to generate content
  • 2) Scale high-velocity video content
  • Own a social-first strategy designed to grow organic channels globally
  • Develop scalable video series that balance entertainment, insight, and product
  • Drive a high volume of platform-native content across TikTok, Reels, Shorts, LinkedIn and YouTube
  • Build a “content machine” that turns one insight into dozens of executions and then scales using data.
  • 3) Create high-impact creative advertising that shifts perception
  • Lead big, bold campaign thinking that complements always-on content
  • Create advertising that feels like culture, not corporate B2B
  • Develop creative platforms, brand narratives, and distinctive campaign ideas
  • Ensure paid work is memorable, differentiated, and commercially effective
  • 4) Partner with media teams to make ideas perform
  • Work closely with our media and performance marketing team to shape briefs, formats, testing plans and rollouts
  • Build creative systems that scale in paid: modular assets, templates, cutdowns, variations, rapid iteration
  • Use performance signals to refine the creative without watering down the idea
  • Drive creative effectiveness across paid social, Radio, YouTube, search-supported video, OOH and emerging channels
  • Leverage media partners to help bring ideas to life
  • 5) Lead creative across brand moments & experiences
  • Manage design and content teams supporting campaigns, product storytelling and growth initiatives
  • Oversee creative for webinars, events, stunts and partnerships from concept through delivery
  • Turn product releases and customer pain points into creative stories people actually care about

What success looks like:

  • Organic channels grow meaningfully through repeatable, scalable series
  • We’re shipping high-quality content at speed, week after week
  • Paid creative performance improves through structured testing and iteration
  • At least one major campaign lands that shifts category perception and earns attention
  • Creative production becomes a scalable engine (not a bottleneck)
  • The brand becomes known for doing things differently

Skills & Experience

  • Proven ability to build scalable creative systems
  • You’ve built and led creative teams in-house and/or in a high-output creative environment
  • You know how to scale ideas into repeatable formats and campaigns
  • You have great instincts for matching production investment to impact. You can create work that performs on minimal budget, and know when a bigger production is worth it
  • Video-first, always
  • You think in hooks, pacing, story, cutdowns and series formats
  • You understand what works natively across TikTok/Reels/Shorts/LinkedIn
  • You can make product compelling on camera without being cringe or cliche
  • Big campaign thinking & high velocity execution
  • You can lead high-impact advertising while also scaling always-on content
  • You’re comfortable moving between “big idea” and “ship it today”
  • You’re obsessed with creative that actually breaks through
  • Collaborative operator with high taste
  • You’re confident leading teams and setting standards
  • You’re clear in feedback, fast in decision-making, and strong in craft
  • You know how to work cross-functionally without slowing things down
  • You can build a creative culture that’s ambitious, accountable and fun
  • You want to do new and cutting edge work
  • You’re not interested in recycling safe B2B playbooks and operate from first principles

  • You push for originality, boldness and edge (with taste)
