Job DescriptionABOUT THE CO-OP PROGRAM
Bose Corporation is seeking students to participate in our Co-op Program who share our belief that sound is power. During the six-month co-op, students will have the chance to apply classroom learning in a hands-on work environment. Co-op participants will network across the business to gain diverse perspectives within Bose Corporation. Additionally, co-ops will connect with other students and colleagues, building valuable professional relationships for the future.
Fall Co-op: Candidates must be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) in a hybrid, in-office format from July 13 through December 18, 2026. No relocation assistance is available.
Being currently authorized to work in the U.S. is a precondition of employment for this position.
THE ROLE
The Data Governance Co-op will support the Digital Asset Manager in managing over 15TB of legacy assets spanning from the 1990s to the present. This role is designed for a Library Science graduate student, offering practical experience in digital archiving, metadata standards, and enterprise information governance. The co-op will contribute to retention, destruction, and optimization of long‑term storage while applying principles of library and information science to corporate data management.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory & Metadata Management
- Catalog legacy assets by age, type, and format.
- Apply standardized metadata tags (creation date, business unit, asset type, licensing status).
- Enhance metadata quality using controlled vocabularies, taxonomies, and archival standards.
- Identify missing or inconsistent metadata and flag for review.
R.O.T. (Redundant, Obsolete, Trivial) Data Identification
- Use archival appraisal techniques to distinguish valuable records from redundant or obsolete files.
- Run duplicate checks and highlight outdated formats.
- Prepare candidate lists for review by governance leads before destruction.
Documentation & Process Support
- Draft clear process documentation and checklists for metadata tagging, archival workflows, and retention schedules.
- Maintain logs of assets processed and organize evidence for audit readiness.
- Contribute to governance guidelines by aligning archival best practices with corporate standards.
Reporting & Dashboards
- Populate governance dashboards with progress metrics (e.g., backlog reduction, metadata completeness).
- Prepare weekly summaries highlighting archival progress and compliance milestones.
Qualifications
- Current graduate student in Library and Information Science (MLIS or equivalent).
- Strong knowledge of metadata standards (e.g., Dublin Core, MARC, schema.org) and archival practices.
- Familiarity with digital asset management systems (e.g., Bynder, Rights Cloud, SharePoint) preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Smartsheet for data organization and reporting.
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud applications: Photoshop (image editing), Illustrator (vector graphics), Acrobat (PDF management), and InDesign (layout design).
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Interest in digital preservation, compliance, and enterprise information governance.
