Glenmont Job Corps Center, operated by Adams and Associates, is seeking an experienced and passionate Counseling & Career Preparation Program (CPP) Manager to lead our counseling and career preparation team.

In this rewarding leadership role, you will oversee student counseling services, case management, and career preparation programming to help young adults successfully complete the Job Corps program and transition into meaningful careers. You'll supervise and develop a dedicated team, collaborate across departments, and foster a safe, supportive, and student-centered environment.

Hours: Monday-Friday 8a-5p

What You'll Do:

  • Lead and supervise the Counseling & Career Preparation team.
  • Oversee student counseling, case management, and program outcomes.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop staff while promoting a culture of excellence.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and community partners to support student success.
  • Monitor program performance, ensure data integrity, and maintain compliance with Job Corps and Department of Labor standards.
  • Create an inclusive environment where students are supported, engaged, and empowered to achieve their personal and career goals.

MANAGEMENT & SUPERVISION
Supervises and manages the Counseling & Career Preparation Programs and staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES
o Follows all integrity guidelines and procedures and ensures no manipulation of student data.
o Ensures Center meets or exceeds DOL/Company performance goals. Tracks and monitors program outcomes to ensure goals are met.
o Interviews, recommends for hire, disciplines, recommends for termination and evaluates the performance of the employees in the Counseling and CPP departments.
o Ensures each student receives comprehensive and individualized case management that promotes student retention, Job Corps completion and quality job placement upon separation from the program.
o Positively contributes to the Center's culture by treating students with care and respect. Supports students achieve personal and career goals and ensuring that students feel safe and welcomed while attending the Job Corps program.
o Ensures students are actively engaged in leadership and after-hours programming that promotes student achievement and success.
o Oversees and manages evaluations of student progress and student panels.
o Fills staff vacancies in a timely manner. Effectively motivates, empowers and requires staff to perform his/her job responsibilities.
o Employs sound time-management and delegation skills. Holds staff accountable for producing quality work, develops staff for career progression and disciplines staff who fail to meet goals.
o Provides required/supplemental training for new and current employees.
o Motivates and manages staff to work effectively, creates a supportive work environment, recognizes staff accomplishments and proactively addresses staff performance concerns.
o Develops Center-beneficial linkages within the community for education, employment, Career Technical Training and WBL support. Promotes a positive image of the Center and Job Corps and establishes meaningful relationships with elected officials.
o Mentors, monitors and models the Career Success Standards as required by the PRH.
o Provides high-quality supervision and management for the student population. Takes swift and appropriate action and positively influences student behavior. Shows respect and courtesy to students and holds them accountable for their actions and behavior.
o Provides quality programs and services for students and ensures that quality is maintained and student needs are met. Pursues improvement and enhancement of programs and services.
o Exchanges ideas and information, both orally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner and contributes meaningfully to group efforts by offering relevant ideas and knowledge. Provides quality and timely information to DOL/Company when requested.
o Effectively articulates thoughts and ideas. Identifies problems, analyzes causes and evaluates appropriate solutions prior to taking or recommending actions. Follows up to ensure prompt/appropriate action is taken and that problems are in fact corrected.
o Works in partnership with staff from all Departments to ensure effective supervision and services are provided to students.
o Motivates and manages staff to work effectively, creates a supportive work environment, recognizes staff accomplishments and proactively addresses staff performance concerns.
o Provides required/supplemental training for new and current employees.
o Ensures that area of oversight is organized, clean, safe and conducive to student learning
o Accepts direction and supervision from the Center Director/Center Duty Officer/Shift Manager to include assignments to temporarily perform job responsibilities of other departments and positions.
o Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors degree (including at least 15 semester hours in Social Services-related instruction) from an accredited school required.
  • Masters degree from an accredited school preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in program management and direction. Substantial experience working with youth.
  • Prefer Job Corps or related program experience.
