A DAY IN A LIFE
As a start up, you can expect your days to be pretty varied. Multitasking is normal, and sometimes, your skills or natural talents will be leveraged to support other business priorities. That said, the bulk of your working hours should involve you having to:
- Manage and coordinate and oversee all aspects of cargo operations for air freight, including loading, unloading, and handling of shipments.
- Lead a team to ensure smooth operations, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize transportation routes, reducing costs and improving efficiency.
- Negotiate contracts with carriers, suppliers, and vendors to secure favorable terms and ensure high-quality service.
- Resolve operational issues and discrepancies promptly to minimize disruptions in the supply chain.
- Collaborate with various departments to streamline processes and enhance overall efficiency.
- Analyze performance metrics and implement improvements to drive operational excellence for the CTO or 3PL
- Liaise with airline personnel, ground handling teams, and freight forwarders to ensure timely and efficient movement of cargo.
- Manage documentation, including air waybills, customs forms, and other required paperwork for international shipments.
- Monitor and track cargo throughout the transportation process, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
- Handle inquiries and resolve issues related to cargo, such as delays, damages, or missing shipments.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to optimize cargo loading, space utilization, and flight scheduling.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, security procedures, and airline-specific guidelines.
- Utilize software and systems for inventory management, tracking, and reporting purposes.
- Monitor the ULD movement and planning via ULD Stock Check Message (SCM) from CTO or GHA for all stations.
- Supervise daily interline operations to ensure smooth cargo transfers, minimal disruptions, and timely delivery.
- Support digital initiatives to automate and streamline interline processes, including e-AWB integration and cargo tracking tools.
- Recommend system enhancements or upgrades to improve efficiency and data accuracy.
- Act as the point of escalation for interline-related service issues or contractual disputes.
- Establish and monitor KPIs to evaluate interline performance, including load factors, service reliability, and partner contribution.
- Provide support and assistance to other departments for cargo-related matters as needed.
