The Role
Key Responsibilities
P&L Ownership & Strategic Leadership:
Formulate and execute the overarching country strategy for Malaysia, aligning local objectives with our regional and global vision.
Take full accountability for the Malaysian entity's P&L, driving revenue growth, managing operational budgets, and ensuring sustainable profitability.
Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory shifts to identify new commercial opportunities and white-space revenue streams.
Commercial Expansion & Sales Management:
Drive aggressive new business development by targeting and acquiring top-tier enterprise merchants, corporate clients, and e-commerce platforms.
Lead the full sales cycle for complex, high-value deals, negotiating commercial terms and closing strategic partnerships.
Oversee the expansion of all product lines within the market, including omnichannel payment gateways, Pay by Link, card tokenization, and digital voucher solutions (InsertPass).
Strategic Partnerships & Channel Development:
Cultivate and manage C-level relationships with key stakeholders across the local payments ecosystem, including Tier-1 banks, acquiring partners, telcos, and payment networks (e.g., PayNet).
Develop and execute channel partnership programs (ISOs, referral partners, business associations) to scale market penetration efficiently.
Represent us at major industry events, fintech conferences, and media engagements as the primary brand ambassador in Malaysia.
Team Leadership & Operational Excellence:
Build, mentor, and scale a cross-functional, high-performing local team encompassing Sales, Marketing, Merchant Support, and Operations.
Establish robust performance KPIs, sales targets, and incentive structures to drive team accountability and commercial success.
Ensure seamless local operations, working closely with regional product and technical teams to deliver localized solutions and superior merchant experiences.
Ensure strict adherence to local regulatory frameworks, BNM guidelines, PCI-DSS standards, and data privacy policies.
Requirements
Requirements & Qualifications
Experience: Minimum 8–10 years of progressive leadership experience within the payments, fintech, banking, or e-commerce industry, with a proven track record of managing a country or regional business unit.
Domain Expertise: Deep technical and commercial understanding of the Malaysian payments ecosystem (e-wallets, card acquiring, FPX, BNPL) and enterprise B2B sales cycles.
Network: An established, active network of key decision-makers within local financial institutions, major retail/e-commerce brands, and regulatory bodies.
Commercial Acumen: Demonstrated capability in P&L management, budgeting, forecasting, and translating data-driven insights into actionable business strategies.
Leadership: Exceptional team-building and mentorship skills, with experience managing multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
Communication: Excellent negotiation, presentation, and stakeholder management skills. Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia or Mandarin is a strong advantage.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, or a related discipline. An MBA or advanced degree is highly preferred.
