As the country leader and chief local representative, you will own the strategy to drive growth, expansion and continued success in Japan. Reporting to the SVP and Managing Director, APJ, you will be accountable for overall business performance including revenue growth, partner acceleration, marketing, and continuing to build New Relic's market presence. What You'll Do
As Country Manager for Japan, you will own commercial outcomes and lead our sales engine. You will:
- Market strategy and growth: Develop and execute a Japan-specific go-to-market strategy that aligns with global objectives. This includes account segmentation, territory planning, and adapting sales tactics to resonate with local customers.
- Own Revenue Growth: Drive new customer acquisition, pipeline development, and platform expansion across all segments, delivering against sales targets and ARR goals.
- Sales leadership: Lead, build, and coach high-performing sales teams, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence. Build, coach, and inspire sales teams, creating a culture of accountability, collaboration (協力), and excellence that reflects Japanese business values.
- Executive relationships: Cultivate and maintain trusted relationships with C-level executives at key accounts, acting as New Relic's primary senior sales leader in Japan and driving strategic, long-term partnerships.
- Drive Sales Operations Excellence: Partner closely with sales operations, marketing, customer success, and channel teams to optimize sales efficiency, forecast accuracy, and deal velocity.
- Manage Business Performance: Own local P&L elements related to sales, provide accurate forecasting and pipeline reporting, and maintain clear visibility to APJ leadership on sales performance and market dynamics.
- Inter-departmental collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including marketing, customer success, and operations, to build a targeted strategy and optimize business processes for the Japanese market.
- Partner: Accelerate our partner ecosystem via strategic focus partners joint sales and marketing initiatives.
The Skills You'll Bring
We're seeking a results-oriented sales leader with deep Japan market expertise and a track record of building successful sales organizations. You will have:
- Proven Sales Leadership: A history of successfully leading a technology sales organization in the Japan market, with a clear record of achieving sustainable revenue growth across multiple segments.
- Strong Revenue Track Record: Demonstrated success building and scaling sales organizations, with expertise in both new customer acquisition and account expansion strategies.
- Japan Market Expertise: Deep understanding of Japanese business culture, decision-making processes, and buying behaviors, with established relationships in the enterprise technology sector.
- Strategic vision: Demonstrated ability to create and execute bold, long-term strategies for regional growth.
- Sales Management Excellence: Experience implementing sales methodologies, coaching teams to excellence, managing complex sales cycles, and driving predictable revenue growth.
- Strategic & Operational Balance: Ability to translate regional strategy into actionable local sales plans while maintaining strong financial discipline and forecast accuracy.
- Independence and drive: Ability to operate independently and take initiative to drive consistent business growth.
- Cloud technology background: Strong technical acumen in cloud computing environments and an understanding of infrastructure monitoring, observability, and related technologies.
- Fluency: Native-level Japanese and business-level English required for effective communication with local customers and regional leadership.
