GEICO is seeking an experienced attorney to join its Corporate Litigation and Investigations team as Counsel. This role will manage a diverse portfolio of internal and external investigations, anti-fraud litigation where GEICO is the Plaintiff, and corporate litigation impacting the company’s operations and strategic objectives. The Counsel will lead and support investigations involving suspected fraud, misconduct, and regulatory or law-enforcement inquiries, while also managing litigation arising from those matters. The role partners closely with Claims, Operations, Compliance, Security, HR, and Technology and is part of a collaborative legal department valued for practical, business-focused advice.
Primary Responsibilities
Manage and conduct affirmative fraud matters, including investigation, litigation strategy, and coordination with internal business partners.
Lead and support internal investigations involving alleged misconduct, policy violations, or compliance concerns.
Manage external investigations, including responses to regulatory, civil, or law-enforcement inquiries.
Advise business partners and leadership on investigation findings, litigation risks, and strategic responses.
Coordinate and manage outside counsel, including oversight of budgets, strategy, and work product.
Partner with internal stakeholders to conduct and manage discovery, interviews, and document reviews.
Assess legal and reputational risk and provide clear, actionable recommendations.
Escalate complex or sensitive matters appropriately while maintaining control over case management and expenses.
Conduct legal research and stay current on emerging trends related to fraud, investigations, and litigation.
Support broader corporate litigation matters as needed.
Basic Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
5–7 years of relevant experience in a law firm, government, prosecutor’s office, or in-house legal department.
Experience handling investigations, fraud matters, or complex litigation.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and judgment skills.
Location: Hybrid – Chevy Chase, MD or New York, NY
Work Schedule: Hybrid (3 days onsite per week)

Annual Salary
$151,700.00 - $235,750.00The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
