Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Cost Accounting Manager, under general supervision, is responsible for participating in the MTI accounting activities for the North American operations to ensure that accurate, timely financial data, in accordance with GAAP, is available for the business managers.  This position is also responsible for supporting the business by maintaining the inventory items and related costing within Oracle.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs month-end cost accounting close entries, accruals and analysis.
  • Maintains the Oracle product master files and creates/updates production formulas
  • Assists with the preparation of the annual standard cost budget and forecasts
  • Prepares monthly account reconciliations and performs Balance Sheet reviews with management
  • Prepares various monthly decision management reports
  • Analyzes production costs, investigates unusual costs and ensures proper procedures are being followed  
  • Exercises expertise in preparing detailed business process and cost analysis
  • Supervise and manage Cost Accounting staff, if applicable
  • Maintains a familiarity with new technologies to the extent needed to assist the business in enabling these new technologies.
  • Assists in review and development of Oracle/ADI/HFM reports to support management

Other Duties & Responsibilities

  • Evaluate current processes with an emphasis on continuous improvement
  • Evaluate internal control structure to maintain compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley
  • Support the business unit finance team
  • Interact with internal and external auditors where necessary
  • Perform special projects as needed

OE/Lean

  • Actively participates in the implementation of sustainable improvement processes, such as 5S, Kaizen, Daily Management Control, Standard Work and Problem Solving.

Qualifications

Qualifications/Requirements:

Principle working relationships - interact with employees at all levels of the organization and outside auditors.   Advanced Excel skills required.   Must be familiar with standard cost accounting, bill of materials, month end inventory reporting and analysis.   Candidates with experience using Oracle R12 and HFM preferred.


Education:      

A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with a minimum of five to ten years cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.  CPA is not required, but preferred. Candidates strongly preferred to have Oracle costing experience.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

Must have demonstrated knowledge/experience in the development of standard costs for an operation including determining departmental allocations, activity drivers, as well as follow on monthly variance analysis. Must have a thorough understanding of US GAAP and have well-developed computer skills. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel is preferred. Experience with Oracle and HFM is a plus. Must be a self-starter with good management, communication, interpersonal and general business skills, along with strong mathematical, analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.  Must be able to gather organize, and analyze data, draw conclusions, and handle stress. 


Travel:       Travel may occur on an infrequent basis.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is typically required to regularly conduct work in a controlled office environment, moving around the office as needed, sitting at a desk, using office equipment, including but not limited to a personal computer, fax machine, copier and telephone, read, write, listen, speak, and understand English, have the ability to work independently, be dependable and maintain confidential information, integrity and composure at all times.


Constant contact with individuals internal and external to the organization occurs via various methods of communication, typically including face-to-face discussions, electronic mail, phone calls, written letters and/or faxes.

Work Hours: 

Must have ability to work the shift/number of hours in which duties need to be accomplished, including overtime, holidays and weekends, as necessary.  


Safety Training: 

A new employee hired to perform the duties of this position is required to be provided New Employee Training by a qualified individual or through the online training system.  Additionally, an employee must be provided further training if a job duty/task has changes that will affect the health and safety aspects of that employee’s position.


Additional refresher safety training will be required as management deems appropriate or as dictated by government regulations.
