Description of Work

This position is assigned to Greene Correctional Institution in Maury, NC. Employees in this class are assigned a caseload of inmates.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Employees in this position will provide assistance within correctional programs;

which involves supportive counseling, conducting assessments, developing case plans, answering and following up on inmate questions and concerns, and making recommendations to the classification committee. Employees will also assist in major dynamic programs for the rehabilitation of inmates such as inmate work assignments, work release, education, recreation as well as transition planning and coordinating. Case Managers plan and coordinate inmate’s transition (re -entry) prior to parole or release in the community.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences:

Salary Range:  37,377 - 65,408

About the Division of Institutions:

The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.

Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice, Human Services, Recreation or a related field from an appropriately accredited institution; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of custody experience within the North Carolina Department of Public Safety; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Necessary Special Qualifications Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
