Qualifications
Ko wai koe | About you
In the words of the guy who could be your new boss, good Corporate Finance is art + science. To nail this role, you’ll need a little creativity and magic as well as the technical competencies you already know about. You first built these skills at uni studying Accounting, Finance, or Economics, went on to become CA or CFA qualified (or are nearly there!) then really refined them providing financial advisory services in a CA corporate finance team, investment banking, management consulting, or similar corporate background.
You’re developing your own consultative style and the ability to craft business cases that really connect with people. You can build rapport with ease – the whole relationship side of things comes naturally for you. You thrive in dynamic conversation and back your great verbal skills up with written comms that are just as good. You’re a keen learner who gets a kick out of researching and evaluating data and is comfortable working independently, but also enjoys bouncing off of peers and working collaboratively.
It would be great if you’ve worked in the Energy sector before, but we’re happy to provide training on the markets and would love to see a variety of backgrounds. Experience in financial modelling, project evaluation, and investment analysis is where it’s at, and if you have skills in alternative modelling techniques, even better. This role will involve a lot of data analysis and dashboarding so while we could teach you (and happily will, if you’re awesome on every other front), we’d be stoked if you came with fully-fledged skills in R-Studio / Python and data manipulation, including Power BI and Databricks.
Additional Information
There are a bunch of perks to being a permanent Contact kaimahi. Along with great leadership, teammates, development, and growth and progression opportunities, you’ll enjoy flexible working, free health insurance cover, access to Contact Shares, a ‘Good to be Home’ annual payment toward your home set up & wellbeing, a trail-blazing parental leave policy, discounts on Contact Energy products, and more.

Please note, only candidates with the right to live and work in New Zealand will be considered for this role.
Research shows that while men apply to jobs where they meet 60% of the criteria, women and those in underrepresented groups tend to only apply if they tick every box. We're not about box ticking, so if you think you have what it takes but don't meet everything stated above, please still get in touch. We'd love to kōrero.
