Job Summary:
The Corporate Senior Accountant I is responsible for managing general ledger, banking, and forecasting processes related to payroll. This role provides reporting to the field, department leaders, and the accounting, tax, and payroll departments. It also supports SEC reporting requirements.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Review, reconcile, and investigate payroll funding and daily banking reports to ensure employee net pays and tax payments agree to Workday and the general ledger. Investigate as needed.
- Analyze and process payroll journal entry files to the general ledger for the entire company.
- Perform payroll accounting, including reconciliation of general ledger accounts to ensure accounts are consistent and complete. Investigate and correct discrepancies as needed.
- Serve as the primary liaison from Finance to Payroll to address all payroll-related inquiries and reporting needs from Field Finance.
- Maintain accounting structure within Workday, implement new pay components and cost centers to accurately record payroll expense by location.
- Financial accuracy, compliance and cross functional support:
- Record workers’ compensation and benefit allocations for allocations to ensure expenses are recorded accurately
- Manage the payroll-related escheatment process by reviewing outstanding checks and ensure compliance with state regulations.
- Prepare annual compensation reporting for the Tax and Risk departments to facilitate required filings.
- Work directly with assigned departments to complete corporate office annual plan and forecasts.
- Prepare footnote support and assist in the review of quarterly and annual SEC filings (Forms 10-Q & 10-K).
- Cross-train with other peer positions as needed to ensure sufficient backfill capability.

Required Education/Experience
- Minimum bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent
- Minimum 1–3 year of relevant accounting or payroll experience
- Proficiency with accounting information systems (Lawson / Infor or Longview a plus)
- Experience with intercompany journal entries
- Experience with payroll systems and processes (Workday or ADP SmartCompliance a plus)
Required Licensing, Registration and/or Certifications
- CPA license preferred
