Mechanical / Electrical Core, Active Part & Winding Design Engineer - Power Transformer
The opportunity
Hitachi Energy is seeking a Mechanical / Electrical Core, Active Part & Winding Design Engineer for the Business Unit Transformers to join our innovative and forward-thinking team in the Global Engineering Center in Vadodara, India, you will play a crucial role in the development and design of innovative products and systems that meet our customer needs and industry standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project specifications are met while adhering to industry standards and design best practices. Your expertise in engineering principles and practices will contribute to optimizing designs for performance, functionality, and sustainability.
How you’ll make an impact
- The success candidate will be the part of an International Design and Engineering Team specialized in Power Transformer up to 345 kV Class design covering different countries.
- Responsible to perform internal design of the transformer including cleats and leads meeting factory limitation, guideline, and checklist as per IEEE / IEC /IS standards.
- Understanding of Transformer mechanical design, Thermal, Dielectrics, Short circuit and sound performance and transformer mechanics
- Coordinating design activities within a worldwide factories network.
- Participation in internal design concept reviews.
- Demonstrated team building skills and networking skills, would be a preference.
- Ability to speak with and work together with the technical teams in different parts of the world.

Your background
- B.E / B. Tech Mechanical / Electrical Engineering.
- 4 to 10 Years in internal design of the transformer including Core, Active Part & Winding for oil filled, Power Transformers manufacturing Industry. Candidates with higher experience also to be considered.
- Knowledge on CAD software, any 3D Modelling software is a must. Creo is considered as an advantage.
- Should understand Transformer Design, Mechanical Calculations, Dielectrics, clearance/creepage, basic layout and cleats lead arrangement.
- Should have good understanding of IS/ IEC /IEEE Standards & Canadian Standards
- Experience in C&L design / Tank & externals is an advantage
- Experience in Simulation or software development would be advantageous.
- Experience on Microsoft office and tools.
- Ability to speak with and work together with the technical teams in different parts of the world.
- Demonstrated team building skills, would be a preference.
- Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
Skills Required
- B.E / B.Tech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- 4 to 10 years experience in internal design of transformers including core, active part and winding for oil-filled power transformers
- Proficiency with CAD and 3D modelling software (use of 3D CAD is a must)
- Understanding of transformer mechanical design, thermal, dielectrics, short circuit and sound performance, mechanical calculations
- Knowledge of clearance/creepage, basic layout, cleats and lead arrangement
- Good understanding of IS / IEC / IEEE standards and Canadian standards
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with international technical teams; strong spoken and written English
- Experience with Creo
- Experience in core and limb (C&L) design, tank and externals
- Experience with simulation or software development
- Demonstrated team building and networking skills
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and related tools
