Christ the King Catholic Parish in Corpus Christi, Texas, is hiring a Coordinator of Religious Education. The Coordinator of Religious Education is responsible for coordinating the parish religious education program for elementary and middle school students. The Coordinator will help children grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ, learn and understand the Catholic faith, participate in the Sacraments, and develop a strong foundation for living their faith.
The Coordinator of Religious Education will help the children of Christ the King Catholic Parish know Jesus Christ, learn and live their Catholic faith, participate in the Sacraments, and grow as faithful members of the Church.
Ministerial Character:
The Diocesan Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church (“the Diocese”) entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as the Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Diocesan Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators, who are clerics, religious, and lay people. He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, this position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.
Duties and Responsibilities:

- As an integral part of ministry for the Church, this position will support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal life
- Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Continuously grow in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
- Coordinate the parish religious education program for elementary and middle school students
- Assist in developing and implementing age-appropriate Catholic faith formation
- Coordinate class schedules, registration, attendance, and communication with families
- Recruit, coordinate, and support catechists and classroom volunteers
- Provide catechists with necessary information, materials, and support
- Encourage children to participate in Mass, the Sacraments, prayer, and parish life
- Assist with sacramental preparation as assigned by the Pastor
- Communicate religious education information, schedules, and events to parents and families
- Help coordinate special religious education activities, service projects, and parish events
- Maintain appropriate records and permission forms
- Work collaboratively with parish staff and pastor
- Maintain regular communication with the Pastor regarding the religious education program, needs, and concerns
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Pastor
Mental/Physical Demands:
- Ability to carry, pull, push, lift, or move objects 10 pounds or more
- Ability to maintain composure under duress; maintain emotional control under stress
- Must maintain confidentiality
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Texas driver's license
- Must be a fully initiated, practicing Roman Catholic who supports and lives the teachings of the Catholic Church
- A genuine love for children and a desire to share and strengthen their Catholic faith
- Previous experience in religious education, Catholic education, parish ministry, teaching, or working with children preferred
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with children, parents, catechists, and volunteers
- Ability to use Microsoft Office and appropriate parish communication tools
Additional Requirements:
- Must submit to employment required screenings including a criminal history background check, motor vehicle record check, and drug screening
- Certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office of Safe Environment and Child & Family Resources
- Position requires adherence to Diocesan policies and procedures
