Major League Baseball is looking for a Coordinator, Legal & Business Affairs (Contract) in the Major League Baseball Business & Technology Legal team to oversee the legal aspects of a wide range of Major League and Minor League Baseball’s domestic and international commercial activities, including licensing, products, national and international events like the World Series and the World Baseball Classic, marketing, advertising, sponsorship, ticketing, video and mobile games and gaming, sports betting, technology infrastructure, software licensing, consumer protection, data privacy, and information security.
Responsibilities
Support lawyers and senior staff in various legal and business affairs functions. Specific duties will vary based on departmental needs, but may include tasks such as:
Contract Preparation and Administration
- Collaborating with internal business units (e.g., technology, marketing, HR, finance) and external partners to clarify business goals and draft contract terms.
- Preparing, reviewing, and negotiating transactional agreements under the oversight of legal counsel.
- Maintaining and updating contract templates and boilerplate language.
Compliance & Asset Review
- Conducting preliminary reviews of NDAs, DPAs, terms of service, and EULAs.
- Assisting with the review of marketing, advertising, and promotional materials.
- Supporting the development of internal policies, terms, and conditions.
Research & General Support
- Performing legal research to support the Business & Technology Legal team.
- Assisting with departmental projects, administrative tasks, and special assignments as needed.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree and at least two (2) years’ experience as a contract administrator / transactional paralegal (or equivalent). Law firm or in-house legal team experience strongly preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills
- Strong academic credentials and references
- Ability to handle privileged, confidential, and sensitive information in an appropriate and professional manner
- Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and simultaneously accomplish multiple quantitatively and qualitatively challenging tasks
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Workspace, Litera Compare, Ironclad or other contract lifecycle management systems, and Internet research
Pay Range: $30.00 - $33.00 per hour
The actual offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your work experience, education, skills, and any other factors MLB considers relevant to the hiring decision.
Note: This role is temporary and not eligible for standard full-time employee benefits and bonuses.
