A Day in the LifeResponsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Devises, fabricates, installs, tests, and repairs mechanical equipment and systems involving the movement of physical components in the manufacturing area.
- Assisting engineers with developing technical solutions related to the operation and performance of devices and systems.
- Installs, repairs, and upgrades components of mechanical devices and systems in the manufacturing area.
- Devises, fabricates, and assembles new or modified mechanical components for machinery and equipment.
- Conducts quality assurance/control tests and procedures.
TECHNICIAN SUPPORT CAREER STREAM: Provides technical support in areas such as production, operations, maintenance, safety, testing, process improvement or product development. Uses schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions or defined plans to perform testing and troubleshooting on electronic or mechanical components, equipment or systems. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data using established formulae and procedures, and performs detailed mathematical calculations. For higher levels, may suggest and/or make improvements to optimize work processes.

Autonomy: Recognized as expert in technical area, with high degree of initiative, who trains, delegates and reviews the work of lower level employees and may be responsible for leading daily operations of a work unit. Communication and Influence: Communicates typically with internal contacts, including participating in benchmarking other business units. Obtains and provides technical information on matters of significant importance to one or more job areas.
Leadership and Talent Management: May act as a team leader or coach and assistant to the supervisor / manager. May delegate tasks to other team members and be responsible for the review of work product and processes. Does not have formal management responsibilities, but provides input to people management decisions in this area.
Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires minimum of 15 years of relevant experience. Requires high school diploma or equivalent (United States), vocational or technical education or certification (all other countries).
