Controls Specialist

When you join Design Group as a Controls Specialist, you are joining a team that will challenge you and position you for growth. In this role, you will work with a team of industry experts to help the world’s leading companies solve their most difficult problems. You will join our Control System Integration Practice and partner with seasoned leaders, technical specialists, and subject matter experts to deliver the highest quality solutions to our clients with consistency and accuracy.
Job Summary:
The Controls Specialist is responsible for the installation, commissioning and testing of the control systems used in the data center. This includes monitoring and controlling HVAC systems, power systems, lighting, and other building automation systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability. The technician will work closely with engineering and operations teams to ensure that all systems installed are functioning efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation and Commissioning: Install, test, and commission control systems including HVAC, electrical, and lighting systems. Ensure all control systems are properly configured and calibrated to meet operational requirements.
- Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor control systems to ensure they are operating efficiently. Adjust system parameters and programming to optimize performance and energy efficiency. Respond to alarms and alerts, diagnosing issues, and implementing corrective actions.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of all maintenance, repairs, and system configurations. Generate reports on system performance, energy usage, and maintenance activities.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other technicians, engineers, and facility staff to coordinate activities and ensure seamless operation. Provide technical support and guidance to team members as needed.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure all control systems comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations. Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate's degree or technical certification in electrical, mechanical, or control systems engineering or a related field. Direct experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience working with control systems in a data center or similar environment.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in control systems programming and configuration.
- Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, and building automation systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Familiarity with various control system platforms; BMS (Building Management Systems) or SCADA is a plus.
- Experience conducting I/O checkouts.

The approximate pay range for this position is $90,000-$105,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position.
