The Role
Manufacturing Engineering Cyber Security and Networks is an organization within Vehicle Systems Automation Architecture. The primary responsibility of this organization is to define and implement Cyber Security Policies, Practices and Solutions for Manufacturing reporting to the Manufacturing Cyber Security Officer. Tightly coupled with this responsibility is maintaining and ongoing development of the Plant Floor Network Strategy for the Global Common Controls Architecture. The scope covers all Manufacturing including both Vehicle Systems as well as Global Propulsion Systems globally. This position would ensure the regular upkeep of the plant network, ensure compliance to cybersecurity policies, troubleshoot and work with local plant team engineers to resolve any issues to ensure plant uptime metrics and document lessons learnt for continuous improvement.
What You Will Do (Responsibilities)
- Responsible for plant floor automation networking consisting of Cisco switches and some legacy network hardware.
- Responsible for optimizing network performance, troubleshooting network operational impacts and ensuring network-based security controls remain functional.
- Responsible for multiple plants coverage including working in shift on as need basis.
- Responsible for secure network design, establishing, and enforcing system standards; creating and maintaining accurate technical documentation for local area industrial networking.
- As needed participation in after-hours maintenance windows to adjust various systems. Involvement of on-call rotation for network-based support.
- In-depth knowledge of Network Access Control for large scale corporate network (Cisco ISE).
- Provide technical expertise around operational enhancement for GM network automation and security.
- Provide on-site support/trainings on as need basis.
Additional Description
Your Skills And Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- 5+ years of experience in network operations and troubleshooting design.
- Bachelor's Degree, Electrical/Electronics/Computer Engineering.
- Hands on experience with Ethernet IP, Profinet with Hirschmann and or Cisco switch hardware along with various industrial field bus communication networks like Device Net, Profibus etc. and PLC Programming.
- Advance interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate in a cross functional team.
- Familiarity with Network and Computer Communications Standards
- Global/Local travel may be required to support other GM sites on an as-needed basis - Estimated travel to be approximately 10-20% of time.
What Can Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Working level understanding of information cybersecurity.
- Knowledge of GM controls standards such as GCCH, GCCS, GCCB, PFCN / IECN and Plant Floor Automation.
- Controls experience in plant floor environment
- Rockwell PLC troubleshooting / programming
- Siemens PLC troubleshooting / programming
- Ability to read controls prints for industrial equipment
- MES systems and how they interact with each other and automation equipment
This position is not eligible for ISP, ITAP, or localizations.
