Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Program, test, and implement industrial automation systems using PLCs, HMIs, and DCS.
· Troubleshoot and resolve complex control system, mechanical, and electrical issues.
· Lead control-related projects, ensuring they remain on time and within budget.
· Maintain and document changes to systems, including spare parts, drawings, and programs.
· Specify and evaluate electrical components such as PLCs, drives, sensors, servo motors, and vision systems in accordance with company standards.
· Design and modify electrical and control schematics to improve system performance.
· Lead and train Controls Technicians in troubleshooting, PMs, upgrades, and installations.
· Collaborate with internal departments, OEMs, and contractors for equipment start-up, system integration, and ongoing support.
· Support daily production priorities, projects, and cross-functional initiatives.
· Utilize CMMS for planning work orders, managing parts, and tracking maintenance activities.
· Provide technical training to Maintenance, Production, and Controls personnel.
· Assist in capital project planning and annual budget forecasting.
Other Responsibilities and Skills:
· Advanced experience with Allen Bradley, Siemens, and related PLC/HMI platforms.
· Proficient in industrial network setup, troubleshooting, and system backups/restoration.
· Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude and understanding of automation systems.
· Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
· Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
· Willingness to work weekends as required.
Education and Experience Requirements:
· Minimum 10 years of experience in project engineering required.
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field preferred.
· Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical controls and automated systems.
· Prior experience with networked PLC systems, servo systems, and industrial automation.
· Supervisory or project management experience strongly preferred.
Food Safety Responsibility:
This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with the SQF Food Safety Code for Manufacturing. Must report any food safety concerns to authorized personnel.
Physical and Safety Requirements:
· Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
· Stand and walk on concrete floors for extended periods.
· Frequent bending, climbing, squatting, and lifting.
· Work in hot, cold, dusty, or wet environments.
· Comply with GMPs, PPE usage, and all food safety policies.
· Report any unsafe practices to management immediately.
