Munters is a global leader in climate solutions for mission-critical applications. Our Ireland team designs and manufactures advanced cooling technologies that help data centers operate more efficiently, reliably, and sustainably.
We are looking for a Control Systems Engineer to join our Research & Development team and help develop the next generation of high-efficiency cooling and heat-rejection systems.
This is a hands-on opportunity for an engineer who enjoys combining software, automation, controls, and real-world equipment to solve challenging engineering problems.
What You'll Do- Design and develop industrial control strategies using Function Block Diagram (FBD) programming.
- Develop and test control software for data center cooling equipment.
- Integrate and test controls on prototype systems in the R&D laboratory.
- Work with mechanical and electrical engineers to define equipment sequences and operating modes.
- Develop and tune PID and cascaded control loops.
- Configure sensors, actuators, variable-speed drives, controllers, and automation hardware.
- Support testing, data collection, and analysis of control-system performance.
- Troubleshoot software, electrical, and system-level control issues.
- Maintain software documentation, version control, and revision history.
- Support the transition of successful R&D solutions into production.
- Contribute to product testing, commissioning, and continuous improvement.
- Degree in Control Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, Software Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 3+ years of experience developing software or controls for industrial systems.
- Experience with HVAC, refrigeration, cooling, process control, or industrial automation.
- Strong experience with Function Block Diagram programming.
- Understanding of control systems, PID tuning, equipment sequencing, and system dynamics.
- Experience with industrial sensors, programmable controllers, and automation hardware.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working hands-on with prototype equipment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Experience with:
- Carel controls
- Automated Logic Controls (ALC)
- Siemens controllers
- BACnet or Modbus
- Data center cooling
- Refrigeration or thermal management
- Prototype development and product validation
- Software version control and structured release processes
You'll have the opportunity to work on innovative cooling technology for the rapidly growing data center industry, where your work directly impacts energy efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.
You'll also gain exposure to the full product-development lifecycle—from concept and software development through prototype testing, validation, and production.
Munters is committed to creating an inclusive workplace where diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives are valued. We encourage qualified candidates to apply, even if you don't meet every listed qualification.
