Facilities Management (FM) provides maintenance, grounds, and custodial services to the entire campus. FM serves as a partner within the zone structure for the Contract Colleges (CC), Endowed (EN), and Student and Campus Life (SCL) zones.
As a key steward of the University’s facilities, FM is responsible for facility assessments, skilled trades, general construction, building care, grounds, recycling, asbestos, and the management of planned, corrective, and preventive maintenance.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Design, develop, maintain, upgrade and manage installation of controls software and hardware systems in support of the university’s controls/EMCS facility infrastructure.
Provides design support for FM controls construction/installation projects from planning, conceptual design, and system programming, through installation and commissioning. Design HVAC controls, and systems. Generate construction plans, control submittals, and specifications for building control and lighting systems. Monitor controls project budget, schedule and scope. Conduct job meetings pertaining to control systems. Coordinate trades work, facilitating communication, field inspections and commissioning specific to controls software and hardware systems. Mentor and provide technical guidance to Controls personnel. Design control systems and generate programming and graphics for building control systems and lighting control systems. Manage BAS vendor specific server systems.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, such as a combination of several years of technical training and experience.

AAS degree in HVAC with 3-5 years’ experience preparing and designing documents for HVAC systems, and managing the installation of controls software and hardware for HVAC systems.

Must be knowledgeable of building mechanical systems, skilled in construction estimating and trained in HVAC system design.

Must have excellent communication, computer and management skills.

Must have and maintain a valid US driver’s license; may be required to operate a motor vehicle (your own vehicle or Cornell-owned) to travel to/from job sites
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Three to five years of experience as a controls designer responsible for preparation of design and construction documents for HVAC systems preferred.

Two or more years of experience with construction oversight, project scheduling and budgeting preferred.
-
This may be in the position of project coordinator, estimator, or designer in charge of construction.

Experience with control systems and associated software programs (i.e., Johnson, Automated Logic, and Alerton) preferred.
