Job Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Manage the accounting system to provide accurate and timely information used for decision making and reporting.
  • Monitor, direct, analyze and convey financial performance to the CFO.
  • Supervises and coordinates the preparation of reports to government agencies ensuring that all reports are prepared accurately and submitted timely.
  • Prepare agency and grant budget.
  • Oversee the activities of the accounting department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports.
  • Monitor grant budgets, ensure adherence to all contractual terms and conditions and manage financial records and reports.
  • Calculate and record grant reimbursements utilizing accounting and payroll software.
  • Generate and upload reportable information into grant management systems required by funders.
  • Track grant progress, evaluate project outcomes against objectives and prepare timely and comprehensive reports for funders and internal stakeholders.
  • Conduct assessments and business reviews to identify and mitigate risks related to grant funding and compliance.
  • Serve as primary point of contact between grantor and internal departments, providing support and problem resolution.
  • Assist with financial audit of grant related programs.
  • Job responsibilities per category are 25% budgeting, 25% grant management and 50% accounting functions. 

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license required.
  • At least 5 years in senior accounting or controller role.
  • Mental Health or Healthcare industry experience a plus.
  • Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge or similar accounting software is a plus.
  • Experience with accounting for a parent and subsidiaries set up is a plus.
  • Strong budgeting, financial reporting and budget monitoring skills. 
  • Ability to oversee multiple grants, manage timelines and ensure projects are executed effectively. 
  • Skilled in finding information, evaluating eligibility criteria, and analyzing data to inform grant strategies. 
  • Understanding and knowledge of intercompany transactions.
  • Financial operations knowledge; principals of accounting, financial management and budgetary practices. 
  • Skill in providing excellent customer service and support; organizing and prioritizing workload and meeting deadlines; and excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, clearly, concisely with others (internal and external customers, both verbally and in writing), consistently demonstrate positive/proactive customer service attitude.  Consistently maintains ethical behaviors exemplary of quality public service and fair standards, inclusively, among all employees and members of the public.
