Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, and legal requirements, including trust accounting
- Manage and enhance accounting processes, including billing, collections, and expense reimbursements, through documented standard operating procedures
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, evaluate performance, and recommend operational and financial improvements
- Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
- Lead, mentor, and manage the accounting team while fostering strong internal controls and best practices
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; MBA and CPA strongly preferred
- 10–15+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership or controller-level role
- Prior experience within a law firm environment required, with strong knowledge of partnership structures, tax considerations, and regulatory compliance
- Demonstrated expertise in financial analysis, cash flow management, and financial reporting systems
- Experience with legal accounting software; Elite 3E experience preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and complex formulas
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage competing priorities, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to stakeholders at all levels
- High level of integrity, discretion, and attention to detail
