YOUR ROLE 

The Controller at Evergreen Nephrology is a senior-level financial professional responsible for overseeing the financial activities of the organization. This includes managing the accounting operations, producing accurate financial reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, treasury management, full general ledger responsibilities, audit and tax vendor management, and supporting the company’s financial strategies.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

Financial Reporting & Analysis:

  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and potential areas of improvement.
  • Collaborate with the CFO to develop financial strategies and forecasts that align with the company’s business objectives.

Accounting Operations:

  • Manage the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all financial transactions.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Implement and maintain robust accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory standards.
  • Supervise the reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts and resolve any discrepancies.

Treasury & Cash Management:

  • Monitor cash flow, ensuring the company has adequate liquidity to meet its obligations.
  • Manage banking relationships and optimize the company’s cash position through effective cash management strategies.
  • Oversee the administration of the treasury function, including the management of bank accounts and investment of excess cash.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

  • Assist with the annual budgeting process, working closely with Finance to develop realistic and achievable budgets.
  • Assist with monitoring actual performance against budget, providing insights and recommendations to address any variances.
  • Assist with long-term financial planning efforts, including capital budgeting and strategic investment decisions.

Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, including tax filings and financial reporting standards.
  • Oversee the annual audit process, working with external auditors to ensure a smooth and efficient audit.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks, including those related to contracts, credit, and operational processes.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead and mentor the accounting and payroll team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Evaluate team performance and provide regular feedback, coaching, and training to support career growth.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels and resources to meet the company’s financial reporting and operational needs.

HOW YOU QUALIFY

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; MBA or other advanced degree preferred
  • CPA Required
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 4 years in a leadership role
  • Experience in the healthcare industry, particularly in value-based care or managed care organizations, is highly desirable
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting principles
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide strategic insights
  • Proficiency in financial management software and ERP systems (e.g., Oracle/Net Suite, or similar)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities, with a focus on driving performance and accountability
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities
  • High level of integrity and ethical standards
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Proactive problem-solver with a hands-on approach to financial management
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to see the big picture while managing day-to-day financial operations

Pay range for this role is $170,000 to $190,000, with exact pay determined based on experience, education, demand for role, and other role-specific criteria.
