Job Title

Controller

Position Summary

The Controller reports directly to the CFO and is responsible for all financial reporting for MoneyPass Group across its three discrete business lines. The Controller's primary mandate is to lead and execute the transition of the accounting function from the legacy parent corporation's systems and processes to a third-party outsourced accounting service provider, while managing a small internal accounting staff. Following transition, the Controller will oversee the outsourced provider's day-to-day execution and will own all financial reporting, including partnership tax accounting, serving as the key point of contact for the Company's auditor, private equity sponsor, lenders, and executive leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting Transition

  • Lead and execute the end-to-end transition of accounting operations from the legacy parent corporation to a third-party outsourced accounting service provider, including development of the transition plan, timeline, and cutover approach.
  • Design and document standalone accounting policies, procedures, chart of accounts, and internal controls appropriate for a newly independent, carved-out company.
  • Coordinate parallel testing, data migration, and close-process validation to ensure a clean cutover with no disruption to financial reporting.
  • Manage the wind-down of Fiserv transition services agreement (TSA) accounting support in coordination with the CFO and Fiserv counterparts.

Outsourced Provider & Team Management

  • Serve as the primary relationship owner for the third-party outsourced accounting service provider(s); establish service-level agreements, review deliverables, and hold the provider accountable for accuracy and timeliness.
  • Manage, develop, and mentor a small internal accounting staff, defining roles and responsibilities that complement the outsourced provider's scope of work.
  • Determine the ongoing division of labor between internal staff and outsourced resources as the accounting function matures.

Financial Reporting

  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process and all consolidated and business-line-level financial reporting across MoneyPass, ATM Managed Services, and Cash Intelligence.
  • Ensure financial statements and supporting schedules are prepared in accordance with U.S. GAAP, leveraging the outsourced accounting service provider for transactional and close support.
  • Oversee partnership tax accounting and reporting consistent with the Company's joint-venture and private-equity ownership structure, coordinating with external tax advisors on allocations, K-1 preparation, and related compliance matters.
  • Maintain accurate intercompany accounting and segment reporting across the three business lines.

Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the key finance contact for the Company's external auditor; manage the annual audit process, including PBC schedules, audit fieldwork, and resolution of findings.
  • Prepare and present financial reporting packages to the private equity sponsor, including monthly/quarterly results, budget-to-actual analysis, and ad hoc requests.
  • Manage lender reporting requirements, including financial statement delivery, covenant compliance certificates, and borrowing base or similar reporting as applicable.
  • Partner with the CFO and executive leadership team to deliver timely, accurate financial information supporting business decisions across all three business lines.

Controls & Process Improvement

  • Establish and maintain a system of internal controls appropriate to a standalone, PE-backed company operating in a regulated payments environment.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities within a lean, transitioning finance function.
  • Escalate matters touching network rules, Regulation E, PCI DSS, BSA/AML, state money transmission, or other regulatory areas to Risk and Compliance and legal counsel rather than resolving independently.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required, and public accounting experience preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting, including technical accounting and/or controllership experience or comparable experience in Public accounting is desired.
  • Direct experience leading an accounting carve-out, standalone transition, and/or outsourced accounting/finance transition or private equity portfolio experience preferred.
  • Experience with partnership tax accounting and reporting is a plus.
  • Experience in payments, financial services, or a similarly regulated industry is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with executive leadership and external stakeholders
  • Comfort operating in a lean, fast-paced environment characteristic of a newly formed or newly independent company.

What Success Looks Like

  • A completed, well-documented transition of the accounting function to the outsourced service provider, with no disruption to the monthly close or external reporting obligations.
  • Timely, accurate, and GAAP-compliant financial reporting delivered consistently to the auditor, PE sponsor, lenders, and leadership.
  • A stable, appropriately-scoped internal accounting team working effectively alongside the outsourced provider.
  • A documented internal control environment suitable for a standalone, regulated payments company.
