Fahrenheit is assisting our client, BC Wood, in identifying a Controller to join their leadership team. This position will be based onsite out of their Ashland office.
About BC Wood:
BC Wood is a thriving mid-sized manufacturing business with two operating locations and a team of 260 employees. The company has grown significantly over the past two decades, from $3M to its current scale, and continues to build. BC Wood is seeking a leader who wants to be part of a high-performing team and contribute to the next phase of organizational growth.
The Opportunity:
BC Wood is hiring a Controller to own financial operations and join the leadership team. This is a strategic role with hands-on responsibility for all accounting and financial reporting. You'll manage a growing front office team, partner directly with the CFO and leadership group, and have real influence over how we run and grow the business.
This is an opportunity to step into your next role at a company that's serious about developing talent and creating a sustainable, accountable culture.

- Work with the company's CPA on annual tax filings and compliance reporting
- Be part of the leadership team—monthly financial reviews with senior management, quarterly planning, and strategic decision-making
Manufacturing Cost & Profitability
- Track direct and indirect manufacturing costs—labor, materials, overhead—with precision

Culture & Growth
- Take ownership, show up to rhythmic accountability, and help fix what's broken
- Contribute beyond your job description—in a growing company, you see where you can help and you do it
- Help develop scalable processes and systems as the organization grows
Qualifications:
- Experience: 3–7 years in manufacturing or production accounting; you've worked in a small-to-medium business and understand how to be scrappy and effective
- Excel Expert: You build models, spot errors, pull insights from data, and can communicate numbers to non-financial leaders
- Critical Thinker: You catch discrepancies, see patterns, and ask "why" when numbers don't add up
- Growth Mindset: You've hit a ceiling at your current company and you're ready for the next level—more responsibility, more impact, and the chance to grow into a leadership role
- Team Player: You don't say "that's not my job." You see the whole picture and contribute wherever you're needed
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of accounting principles, GAAP, ERP/manufacturing accounting software, and Excel
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA/CMA nice to have, but not required—we value mindset over credentials)
Benefits of the role:
- Flexible Schedule: Based in the Ashland office, you have flexibility on when you start (7am, 9am—whatever works for you)
- Compensation: $120-150K + quarterly bonus structure tied to company performance (hit net margin goals, share in the upside)
- Work-Life Balance: BC Wood practices what it preaches—we are an “on-site” kind of employer but we understand you have a life and need to be other places sometimes.
- Growth Path: This role is designed to develop you into a stronger financial leader
