Our client is a dedicated non-profit organization based in Pasadena, CA, committed to making a positive impact in our community through various programs and initiatives for the homeless community. We are looking for a meticulous and experienced Controller to join our team and oversee our financial operations, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance with all financial regulations.
Responsibilites
- Financial Management:
- Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and presentation to the executive team and board of directors.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with department heads.
- Monitor and report on budget performance, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Prepare financial forecasts and analyze variances to support strategic decision-making.
- Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal and state regulations, and non-profit financial management standards.
- Oversee audits, tax filings, and other regulatory reporting requirements.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard the organization's assets.
- Financial Analysis and Strategy:
- Conduct financial analysis to support program planning and evaluation.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support the organization's strategic goals.
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
- Team Leadership:
- Supervise and mentor the accounting staff, fostering a culture of professional growth and development.
- Collaborate with program managers and other departments to support financial literacy and accountability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably within the non-profit sector.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and non-profit financial management practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
