INTECH Process Automation is seeking a seasoned Control Valve Specialist to join our Operations & Maintenance (O&M) team and provide technical leadership for control and shutdown valve maintenance, diagnostics, testing, and troubleshooting. The role supports complex valve failures, actuator and accessory issues, performance verification, overhaul activities, and reliability improvements while ensuring safe and controlled return to service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead troubleshooting and diagnostics of control valves, SDVs, actuators, positioners, solenoids, and associated air systems.
- Diagnose valve performance issues using stroke signatures, position feedback, travel characteristics, and other diagnostic tools.
- Support valve sizing, actuator selection, fail-safe requirements, and accessory suitability.
- Lead testing of control/SDV valves, including stroke testing, Partial Stroke Testing (PST), seat leakage, functional and response testing.
- Develop and review valve inspection, testing, repair, overhaul, and commissioning methods.
- Troubleshoot digital positioners, I/P converters, solenoid valves, boosters, limit switches, and pneumatic accessories.
- Investigate recurring valve failures and perform RCA to identify permanent corrective actions.
- Verify valve performance against approved specifications, datasheets, setpoints, tolerances, and functional requirements.
- Support valve overhaul, refurbishment, replacement, commissioning, and post-maintenance testing.
- Coordinate with Operations, Instrumentation, Maintenance, Mechanical, Engineering, and OEM/vendor specialists.
- Review valve maintenance history, test results, failure trends, and recommend reliability improvements or technology upgrades.
- Ensure valve modifications, configuration changes, and repairs are properly controlled under MOC and approved procedures.
- Maintain technical records, test reports, failure reports, inspection findings, and CMMS documentation.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers and technicians on valve maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Ensure compliance with PTW, LOTO, HSE, process safety, and site requirements during all valve activities.
To Be Successful in This Role, You Must Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Control, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant oil & gas/industrial experience, including at least 5 years as a Control Valve/Valve Specialist.
- Advanced knowledge of control valves, SDVs/ESD valves, actuators, positioners, solenoids, boosters, and pneumatic accessories.
- Strong experience in valve diagnostics, stroke testing, PST, seat leakage testing, and performance verification.
- Knowledge of actuator sizing, fail-safe operation, valve accessories, and instrument air requirements.
- Experience with digital valve positioners and diagnostic/stroke signature systems.
- Strong troubleshooting, failure analysis, RCA, and reliability improvement capability.
- Experience supporting valve overhaul, repair, commissioning, and return-to-service activities.
- Knowledge of control valve/SDV specifications, testing requirements, and applicable industry standards.
- Strong technical documentation, reporting, CMMS, and maintenance-record skills.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate with OEMs/vendors and multidisciplinary maintenance teams.
- Platform/OEM training or certification in control valves and digital positioners is highly desirable.
