HV Talent Group partners with leading organizations nationwide to connect experienced professionals with exceptional career opportunities. We are currently recruiting for a Contracts Manager on behalf of a respected construction organization specializing in complex hospitality renovation and adaptive reuse projects.
About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Construction Contracts Manager with a strong background in construction legal and paralegal functions to support the company’s continued growth across increasingly large and complex vertical construction projects. This is not a generic corporate contracts role. It is a hands-on construction-focused position supporting project execution, commercial risk management, and legal coordination across the life of the job.
This person will work directly under the Senior Operations Manager and will support executive leadership, operations, preconstruction, project management, accounting, and outside counsel on contract review, negotiation support, risk identification, claims support, document control, and issue escalation. The ideal candidate understands how construction contracts function in the real world — from pursuit and award through buyout, execution, changes, closeout, and warranty.
Construction experience is a must. A law degree is preferred. Licensed attorney experience is a major plus.
Position Overview
A serious, trusted professional who can bring stronger legal and commercial discipline to a fast-growing construction platform. This role is ideal for someone coming from a general contractor, construction manager, developer, major subcontractor, construction law practice, or similar environment where they have had direct exposure to owner agreements, subcontracts, claims support, insurance language, notices, and construction risk.
The right person is highly organized, commercially sharp, discreet, responsive, and able to operate with maturity in a fast-moving environment where deadlines matter; project teams need answers quickly, and sensitive matters must be handled carefully.
What You Will Own
- Lead the drafting, review, redlining, negotiation support, issuance, and tracking of owner contracts, prime agreements, subcontracts, purchase orders, consultant agreements, NDAs, amendments, change documents, and other construction-related legal and commercial documents.
- Work directly under the Senior Operations Manager to help manage contract flow, issue escalation, risk review, and internal coordination across active and upcoming assignments.
- Review contract language for commercial risk, scope gaps, insurance requirements, indemnity language, notice provisions, payment terms, liquidated damages exposure, default language, closeout obligations, and warranty requirements.
- Support preconstruction, estimating, and operations teams during project pursuit, contract award, buyout, and handoff by identifying legal and commercial issues before commitments are finalized.
- Assist project teams with contract interpretation during execution, including notice requirements, change support, claims documentation, reservation-of-rights issues, default support, back charge backup, and other contract-sensitive matters.
- Coordinate with Project Executives, Project Managers, Senior Project Managers, Superintendents, accounting, and executive leadership to make sure project decisions stay aligned with contractual obligations and company risk standards.
- Manage contract logs, expiration dates, compliance items, bond and insurance tracking, lien-release support, document controls, and critical milestone reminders tied to project agreements.
- Help standardize contract templates, exhibits, procurement language, contract-routing procedures, risk-review checklists, and internal approval workflows.
- Coordinate with outside counsel, insurance brokers, sureties, consultants, and leadership on disputes, claims support, sensitive correspondence, and legally significant commercial matters.
- Support closeout and post-completion administration related to warranties, unresolved claims, retention releases, subcontract closeout compliance, and final documentation.
- Help build a stronger companywide contracts function that can scale with growth and the increasing size and sophistication of its work.
What You Bring
- 7+ years of relevant experience in construction contracts administration, construction law, legal operations, paralegal work, claims support, or a similar contract-focused role within a GC, CM, developer, major subcontractor, or construction law practice.
- Meaningful construction experience is required. This is not a fit for a general corporate legal candidate without real construction exposure.
- Strong working knowledge of owner contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, contract exhibits, change orders, claims support, notice requirements, lien-release processes, insurance and indemnity language, warranty obligations, and closeout requirements.
- Ability to read agreements critically, spot risk early, organize issues clearly, and communicate practical recommendations to leadership and project teams.
- Experience supporting contract negotiations, redlines, dispute support, claims documentation, defaults, back charges, delay-related correspondence, or similar commercial/legal construction matters.
- Strong organizational discipline, follow-through, confidentiality, and judgment.
- Comfort working directly with operations leadership and handling sensitive, high importance matters with professionalism and urgency.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, PDF/document workflows, contract logs, and construction project platforms such as Procore or similar systems.
- Bilingual English / Spanish is a strong plus.
Preferred Profile
- Law degree preferred.
- Licensed attorneys are a major plus.
- Paralegal certification or formal legal training is also valuable.
- Experience supporting multifamily, mixed-use, hospitality, condominium, commercial, or high-rise / mid-rise vertical construction is strongly preferred.
- Experience on projects in the $30M-$300M range, or other similarly sophisticated construction assignments, is highly attractive.
- Florida construction market experience is strongly preferred.
The company is growing quickly and taking on increasingly sophisticated assignments. The company needs a Contracts Manager who can operate as a real business partner to operations, not just an administrator. This role is critical to protecting the company, improving contract discipline, reducing avoidable risk, and helping project teams move faster and smarter.
For the right person, this is a strong opportunity to step into a visible role with real responsibility, direct exposure to leadership, and long-term growth potential inside a builder that is scaling aggressively.
