About the Role:

Position Summary

The Content Acquisition Specialist / Project Manager supports the growth, visibility, and development of Wiley's journal portfolio through content acquisition, editor recruitment, and community engagement activities. This role strengthens Wiley's influence and competitive position within key research markets by increasing awareness of Special Issues, commissioning opportunities, editorial vacancies, and expressions of interest.

The primary focus is the development and delivery of scalable promotional initiatives in collaboration with marketing and engagement stakeholders, alongside oversight of internal communications for the Strategic Content Acquisition (SCA) team. The role also directly supports content acquisition and editor recruitment objectives—identifying emerging research trends, engaging researchers and scholarly communities, developing stakeholder relationships, and supporting the acquisition of high-quality Special Issues and commissioned content.

Working closely with publishing, editorial, marketing, research integrity, and other cross-functional teams, the position shares market insights, supports strategic community engagement, and contributes to initiatives that drive sustainable journal growth and long-term portfolio development.

Primary Responsibilities

Marketing, Social Media, and Communication (50% of time)

  • Promote Wiley journal brands and portfolios to author, researcher, and subject matter expert (SME) communities.

  • Develop and implement content-led marketing initiatives that enhance journal visibility and reputation.

  • Identify opportunities to strengthen Wiley's scholarly influence and competitive position within key research communities.

  • Partner with Marketing teams and other stakeholders to develop campaigns and engagement strategies.

  • Support and advise the China Marketing team on market-specific content and audience engagement initiatives.

  • Oversee standardisation and currency of internal communications for the Strategic Content Acquisition team.

  • Act as a primary contact point on social media.

Content Acquisition and Editor Recruitment (50% of time)

  • Identify emerging research trends and engage researchers and scholarly communities.

  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders to support acquisition of high-quality Special Issues and other commissioned content.

  • Contribute to journal and portfolio development through bibliometric analysis.

  • Proactively identify prospective editorial candidates and conduct targeted outreach.

  • Support effective management of the editor lifecycle.

Expected End Results:

  • Successful acquisition of high-quality Special Issues and commissioned content.

  • Strengthened editorial pipeline and effective editor lifecycle management.

  • Data-informed portfolio development and strategic community engagement.

Qualifications
  • 3+ years of work experience, preferably in STM publishing.

  • Experience in commissioning, editorial, or marketing activities within the research community is desirable.

  • Analytical, able to make data-driven decisions.

  • Ability to persuade and influence.

  • Communicate clearly in writing and verbally for a range of audiences.

  • Ability to initiate and track multiple projects concurrently.

  • Detail and quality oriented.

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.

  • Understanding of social media and marketing principles is desirable.

  • Excellent command of English.

  • Fluent spoken and written Mandarin for China-based colleagues.

  • Willing to travel on occasion.
