The Role
If you’re passionate about innovation and love working in an environment where you can constantly improve and adopt new technologies to drive business results, then Nationwide’s Technology team could be the place for you! At Nationwide®, “on your side” goes beyond just words. Our customers are at the center of everything we do and we’re looking for associates who are passionate about delivering extraordinary care.

As a Product Architect within the Enterprise Internet and Mobility (EI&M) BSA, you will lead end‑to‑end solution design across our web experiences that power Nationwide’s Enterprise Profile Management (EPM) journeys. You will shape resilient, secure, and scalable architectures that make it effortless for members to access, manage, and personalize their relationship with Nationwide.

You will partner with product and engineering teams supporting Customer Account Management (CAM), COAST (Customer Online Account Support Tool), Preference Center, CIAM (Customer Identity & Access Management), and Nationwide.com. CAM authenticates through IAM and brokers customer data from eCIF, NF and P&C via Portfolio Business Services (PBS), and DPIM for agent information to render an integrated account summary. COAST equips CSRs to support NI and NF customers. Preference Center is a modern SPA enabling authenticated and unauthenticated users to manage contact preferences on internet and intranet web. CIAM encapsulates login, registration, and one‑time passcode MFA. Nationwide.com is our customer‑facing site with content managed in our CMS.

You’ll apply hands‑on expertise in Java/Spring Boot microservices, Angular SPAs, and API design and management using Apigee, underpinned by strong general architecture design skills. Experience with AWS cloud services and patterns, API and data integration with enterprise systems (including eCIF). You will champion operational excellence, observability, application currency, and architectural simplification across services and front ends.

You will set and enforce non‑functional requirements and SLOs, including page load performance targets (e.g., <3 seconds for the Consolidated Account Management page), resilience and graceful error handling, and privacy/security by design. You will personalize experiences based on interaction history and other knowledge sources, and drive iterative improvements informed by member feedback and data. You’ll collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, security, risk, and customer support, guiding architectural decisions, trade‑offs, and roadmaps, and ensuring consistent, reusable designs that accelerate delivery across CAM, COAST, Preference Center, CIAM, and Nationwide.com while upholding Nationwide’s standards for security, reliability, and member trust.
