OceanaGold are seeking a suitably qualified and motivated Superintendent - Metallurgy To be responsible for overseeing the metallurgical processes within the mining and metal processing operations. This role involves managing a team of metallurgists and technicians, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, optimizing processes to improve efficiency and yield, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with other departments to achieve production targets. It also includes identifying and realizing aspects associated with ore processing and maximizing gold and copper recoveries, developing testing regimes, and analyzing data for project work to realize process plant recovery and throughput improvements. This role reports to the Manager - Process.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Lead the metallurgical staff in designing test work and trials suitable to the process for improved performance
- Provide direct supervision of projects to ensure safe and timely implementation
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of production reports by continuous development of the metallurgical accounting system
- Act as Principal Representative dealing with the assay laboratory contractor
- Develop and maintain Process Plant procedures, forms and checklists with the assistance of the Process administrators
- Optimize Process Plant recovery and throughput
- Support Process Manager in forecasting and budgeting of production and recovery
- Ensures direct reports are properly trained and systems are in place to ensure safety.

- Tertiary qualifications in Metallurgy, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
- Minimum of 7 years experience in metallic mine processing plant
- Minimum 3 years of experience at superintendent level together with demonstrated leadership of high-performance teams
- Advanced presentation and technical reporting skills
- Proven high-level planning and prioritization skills
- Strong analytical skills with a systematic and logic driven approach
- Strong communication and people skills
