Our Consulting Delivery Hub (CDH) in India is a critical part of ERM’s global consulting model enabling scalable, high-quality delivery across regions and service lines. CDH teams work in close partnership with regional consultants to support global client projects, providing specialist expertise, driving consistency, and enhancing delivery efficiency across our most important programmes.

As part of the Consulting Delivery Hub, you will collaborate with colleagues worldwide, contribute to complex sustainability projects, and play a key role in shaping the future of global consulting delivery.

Why this role matters?

As a Audit Consultant, you will support ERM’s global consulting delivery by managing small, discrete audit tasks or phases, executing assigned audit areas independently and supervising subcontractors or technical experts during fieldwork. You will work within EHS Audit in the Consulting Delivery Hub, partnering with regional consultants, audit team leads, subcontractors, technical experts, client process owners and cross-functional delivery teams to deliver defensible findings, maintain clear evidence trails and support efficient audit execution. This role is critical to workstream reliability, fieldwork discipline, client confidence and consistent delivery quality across audit programmes.

What your impact is?

  • Support delivery of impactful audit engagements by managing discrete audit tasks or phases. 

  • Plan sampling and testing for assigned sections using audit-risk concepts such as inherent, control and detection risk. 

  • Execute assigned protocol areas independently and evaluate evidence against audit criteria. 

  • Draft findings, observations, nonconformities and improvement opportunities for Team Lead review. 

  • Supervise subcontractors and technical experts during fieldwork in line with ERM health, safety and ethics expectations. 

  • Identify possible change orders, follow-on opportunities and improvements to audit delivery. 

What will you bring?

  • Relevant experience in audit, EHS regulatory compliance, management systems, sustainability, consulting or industry roles. 

  • Strong audit-methodology knowledge and growing fieldwork and evidence-evaluation competence across at least one management-system standard. 

  • Ability to priorities and manage multiple assignments, deadlines and stakeholders. 

  • Analytical thinking, clear communication and confidence working with process owners, senior stakeholders and external parties. 

  • Experience contributing to audit documentation, findings trackers, evidence trails and reporting outputs. 

  • Willingness to travel for fieldwork where project requirements apply. 

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred in environmental science, engineering, EHS, sustainability or a related discipline. 

  • 5+ years of professional experience in EHS consulting, environmental compliance, environmental auditing or regulatory compliance.

Preferred skills & competencies

  • Exposure to EHS regulatory compliance audits, management-system assessments or sustainability framework reviews. 

  • Familiarity with data analytics or digital tools that support EHS management systems and audit delivery. 

  • Desirable credentials include EMS, QMS, OSHAS or similar professional registration where relevant. 

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver assigned audit sections, protocol areas or discrete phases under Audit Team Lead direction. 

  • Apply risk-based sampling and testing concepts to assigned work areas. 

  • Gather, assess and document sufficient, relevant and reliable evidence against criteria. 

  • Assess control design and operating effectiveness for assigned audit areas. 

  • Draft findings, observations, nonconformities and improvement opportunities for review. 

  • Coordinate with process owners on evidence requests, remediation actions and issue tracking. 

  • Maintain audit documentation, findings trackers and audit trails to ERM standards. 

  • Supervise subcontractors and technical experts during fieldwork and reinforce safe, ethical working practices. 

  • Support client meetings, findings presentations, training delivery and in-field coaching where required. 

  • Deliver high standards of client work.

  • Build meaningful internal and external client relationships.

  • Participate in active client engagement such as proposal support and deliverable presentation.

  • Build internal network and contribute to knowledge management.

  • Exhibit inclusive behaviours and act as buddy to Consulting Associates or Senior Consulting Associates.

  • Demonstrated experience independently planning and conducting environmental, EHS, or management system audits for clients across North America (NA) and EMEA (Europe, Middle East & Africa).

  • Professional certifications such as ISO 14001:2015 Lead Auditor, ISO 45001:2018 Lead Auditor, ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor or equivalent internationally recognized audit certifications are preferred.

Skills Required
