About MojoTech
MojoTech is an innovative technology consulting firm that leverages strategy, design, data, and software engineering to create results-driven, AI-enabled, digital products and experiences.

We partner with our clients to discover and build tomorrow’s intelligent innovations, empowering every company to unlock future market potential, maximize returns on innovation, and drive transformational change.

About the Role
MojoTech is hiring 2 AI Strategist contractors to support AI product strategy assessments across a private equity portfolio. This is not a prototyping or delivery role. Working across a structured seven-stage methodology (Align, Understand, Scan, Pressure-Test, Validate, Model, Synthesize), you'll form independent judgment on AI features across multiple portfolio companies, spot where AI product opportunities exist, draft every deliverable for senior review, and defend your calls under evaluation from the Director of AI Strategy and the client.

Duration: 9-12 weeks for person 1, 4-5 weeks for person 2

What You'll Do

  • Perform AI strategic assessments per portfolio company and aggregate to cross-portfolio
  • Build feature inventories and workflow maps, analyzing commercial and product analytics data to form an initial view on current-state feature strength
  • Lead the roadmap pressure test per company: draft feature-by-feature critique memos with your own keep/kill/reshape logic, backed by evidence
  • Identify net-new AI opportunity areas within a product, drawing on market and competitor analysis and broader cross-industry AI use-case knowledge, not just reacting to what's already built, on the roadmap or competitor me-too features
  • Compile ranked AI opportunities from customer research and willingness-to-pay (WTP) study inputs, critically evaluating WTP outputs before incorporating them
  • Lead the revised prioritized roadmap and clear action recommendation per company, tying every call to commercial outcome
  • Lead the portfolio-level comparative scorecard, applying the six-dimension rubric consistently across companies and defending scores under challenge
  • Lead relative roadmap strength and priority actions by company at the portfolio level
  • Contribute to feasibility and economics signals to ensure their analysis is accurate and comprehensive
  • Contribute to disruption exposure, normalizing findings against the industry vertical baseline
  • Contribute to investment intensity roll-ups
  • Support the opportunity and risk heat map
  • Use AI-native tools to accelerate your own research, drafting, and synthesis
  • Work concurrently across multiple portfolio companies under tight, overlapping deadlines

What You'll Bring

  • AI degree or equivalent applied background, spanning technical and business-facing AI strategy
  • Experience identifying AI opportunities within a product and connecting them to commercial revenue outcomes (ARR, ACV, retention)
  • Product or project management experience at some point in your career
  • Fluency with AI-native tools to augment your own work
  • Strong structured writing across memos, critique docs, and executive decks
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize and critique conflicting inputs into one defensible recommendation
  • Working knowledge of willingness-to-pay methodology sufficient to critically assess study outputs
  • Comfort applying a scoring rubric consistently and defending it under pushback
  • PE and investment committee fluency: thesis language, hold periods, return thresholds
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple concurrent workstreams

Nice to Have

  • Vertical domain depth  across one or more of healthcare IT, life sciences, RegTech/compliance, financial services, or other regulated B2B software markets

Success Looks Like

Your drafts require minimal senior rework. You surface AI opportunities the client hadn't considered. Your critiques and scores hold up under board level scrutiny. Your rubric application is consistent enough to support valid cross company comparison across the portfolio, delivered on schedule despite running multiple companies in parallel. Your portfolio level deliverables, the scorecard, roadmap strength assessment, and priority actions, are accurate and ready for the client without significant rework.
