The office of Zoe Royer, Member of Parliament for Port Moody-Coquitlam is seeking a full-time constituency assistant.
In this role, you will support the Member of Parliament by providing day-to-day administrative, casework, and coordination support in a fast-paced office environment. You’ll serve as the first point of contact for constituents, responding to inquiries in person, by phone, and by email, and helping ensure requests are handled professionally, compassionately, and effectively.
The role will also involve supporting constituency casework, including immigration and non-immigration related files, liaising with federal departments and agencies, and assisting constituents in navigating government programs and services.
You will be responsible for managing and sorting correspondence, drafting responses, and coordinating schedules, meetings, and travel. You will also assist with event planning and may attend community engagements as needed. Working closely with the constituency office team, you’ll help ensure day-to-day operations run smoothly while supporting the Member’s priorities across the riding.
Flexibility and teamwork are essential, as the role may also involve providing coverage and support for teammates during absences or vacation periods.
QualificationsEducation:
- Post-secondary education from a recognized institution in political science, business administration or a related field or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience.
Experiences:
- Experience working in an office setting providing reception or administrative support.
- Experience collaborating effectively within a team environment and working with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Experience preparing formal correspondence.
- Excellent written and oral communication abilities, with great attention to detail.
- Experience managing multiple priorities and tight deadlines in demanding, fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and database management.
- Exceptional judgment and interpersonal skills, and the ability to exercise diplomacy when interacting with the public and stakeholders.
Asset:
- Knowledge of the political environment and/or experience working in a political office setting.
Salary to be negotiated commensurate with experience and qualifications.
