POSITION OVERVIEW

The Product Owner leads the translation of Product Management strategy to engineering execution for HomeLink’s connectivity products and features.

The area of focus includes the HomeLink mobile app, its cloud connectivity features, Over-The-Air (OTA) updates, and more. While there are elements of typical Product Ownership as part of this role, such as sprint planning and backlog grooming, there are many aspects that are unique to Gentex.

There is a wide array of other disciplines this role must effectively interact with: Systems, embedded software, mobile & cloud app developers, UI/UX design, systems test, and more.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Help architect systems, identify solutions to roadblocks and otherwise coordinate work across engineering disciplines.
  • Develop user stories and product definition documentation from a product vision.
  • Work with internal and external engineering to execute projects, break down tasks, and prioritize work.
  • Ensure robust product testing is being completed across teams and at various stages of maturity.
  • Provide regular feedback to help the Product Manager develop and maintain product roadmaps and strategy.
  • Assist with building product demonstration accounts and sales properties.
  • Attend customer meetings to support technical discussions.
  • Perform benchmarking and competitive product testing
  • Design and develop products or product families per the product strategy & roadmap.
  • Contribute to the development of Product Line strategies, roadmaps, and presentation material.
  • Research and experiment as needed to maintain expertise in product or technology area (Wi-Fi, BLE, Matter, CarPlay/Android Auto) and wider trends.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert in your product or technology area. 
  • Establish baseline test procedures for validation and quality assurance of finished components and products. 
  • Develop specifications and requirements for product functionality and perform.
  • Research and support new technology assimilation opportunities.
  • Attend trade shows and build relationships within your Product area and ecosystem. 
  • Prior to hand-off to Launch Teams, make best efforts to ensure new designs utilize parts, methods, and practices that are practical and realistic for series production.
  • Other duties as assigned.

HOW YOU’LL DO IT

  • Product development competency.  Demonstrate success in engineering fundamentals & project management.
  • Utilize experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals in multiple complex projects.
  • Willing to be a team player, dependable, problem solver, motivated, and customer oriented.
  • Creativity and situational flexibility. You must be comfortable navigating ambiguity with minimal requirements and enjoy developing innovative solutions to solve problems.
  • Complying with all Company policies and procedures, safety regulations, company safety policies and safely perform all duties, including but not limited to, promoting a safe workplace. 
  • Maintaining high level of honesty, integrity and confidentiality with respect to company matters. 

WHAT TO BRING

  • B.S. degree in Engineering or related discipline.
  • High level of communication skills in maintaining internal and external communications.

WHAT WILL HELP

  •  Experience working with a variety of engineering or technical-related fields, disciplines, practices, and procedures.
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience.
