Preferred QualificationsEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of 18 years of age and have 6 months school age experience.
- Have a High School diploma or equivalent.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.
- Evidence of physical examination within last 12 months.
- Negative Mantoux TB test and immunity for measles, mumps, and rubella.
- Ability to create and sustain a culture of excellence and work and thrive as part of a cohesive team.
- Ability to lift/move heavy equipment and clean when necessary.
- Will sometimes work early morning, late nights and weekends.
- Strong oral communication skills required for occasional public speaking responsibilities.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift up to 75lbs on occasion and 40lbs frequently (children) and move intermittently during work hours.
- Ability to thoroughly understand Y-USA's three focus areas: Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility; proven ability to identify and meet the needs of the health seeker
PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITY:
- Understand and ensure EEC regulations as well as Old Colony Y policies (Child and Youth Care policy, Child Guidance Policy, Health Care Policy) are always maintained.
- Assist with planning, developing, and implementing the program curriculum in accordance with EEC regulations and Old Colony YMCA’S policies.
- Assist with daily activities, including but not limited to; Y Chat, Homework Help, STEM activities, Arts and Crafts and long-term projects.
- Maintain proper behavior of children at all times with strict adherence to both the YMCA Child Guidance Policy, and the Child Care Policy.
- Understands and maintains QRIS standards
- Act in a public relations capacity when communicating with parents, school personnel and potential clients.
- Act as a positive role model.
- Assist in staffing other schools if needed
- Help maintain attendance records and all necessary reports
- Meet with the School Age Site Coordinator as directed.
- Attend both weekly site staff meetings and monthly school age meetings.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with school or other site-specific personnel.
Skills Required

What We Do
Old Colony YMCA is a charitable, non-profit organization dedicated to youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Serving Southeastern Massachusetts, it provides human services and health and wellness programming for children, families, adults, and seniors. Their mission is to empower individuals to reach their fullest potential and foster the development of strong spirit, mind, and body through community-focused initiatives.
