This position is responsible for the review of new business and working closely with the firm’s Ethics Committee, firm attorneys, and other levels of firm administration, as well as other members of the Conflicts and Compliance Department, Finance Department, and Marketing & Business Development Department to facilitate resolution of complex conflicts of interest and business sensitivity issues related to all potential new business.


JOB DESCRIPTION


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


·       Assist firm attorneys in identification and resolution of conflicts of interest; Coordinate receipt and documentation and preparation of engagement letters and client waivers and/or consents;


·       Meet with members of the Ethics Committee, the Conflicts and Compliance Department’s Managing Director, Director, and Manager to identify conflicts of interest and receive final approval on permitting the firm to undertake new business;


·       Meet with members of the Executive Committee to identify and resolve conflicts of interest;


·       Prepare and implement screens/firewalls when required in connection with new business;


·       Assist with maintenance and update of the conflicts database;

QUALIFICATIONS


REQUIRED SKILLS


·       Must have strong organizational, analytical, writing, and communication skills. 

·       Must be able to multi-task. 

·       Strict attention to detail is a must. 

·       Must be responsible for completing tasks and following through with the resolution of issues, including the ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment. 

·       Must have Microsoft Word and Excel skills.


EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR EXPERIENCE


·       Bachelor’s degree preferred. 

·       At least one (1) year of conflicts researching experience preferred. Conflicts analysis and resolution experience a plus.

·       Elite database or comparable database experience preferred. 

·       If no prior conflicts experience, at least two (2) years of legal background as a legal assistant or other comparable position consisting of researching and database experience preferred.


HOURS

 

Core hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., including lunch hour, with flexibility for alternative scheduling and overtime as needed.
