Role Purpose:
This is a new opportunity for a Compliance Manager to join our Compliance function and be based in our new branch office in Milan, Italy – subject to regulatory approval.
The role will involve working closely with the Compliance Team based in Ireland including our Everest branches across Europe, including the Netherlands, France, Germany and Spain. The successful candidate will have experience of managing regulatory engagement with IVASS, including day to day interaction and oversight of regulatory filings. An understanding of the Central Bank of Ireland’s regulatory framework is desirable. The successful candidate will typically hold a similar compliance role with experience in conduct risk and complaints oversight.
Key Accountabilities:

A comprehensive understanding of the regulatory requirements applying to a General Insurance Undertaking operating in Italy.

Supporting the business in managing its ongoing relationship and engagements with Italian and other EU Regulators, including
-
Supporting, escalating, and overseeing the investigation and resolution of regulatory incidents and breaches in relation to business written in or from Italy;

assisting in the preparation of regulatory submissions and inspections;

responding to regulatory information requests; and
-
representing Everest at regulatory related meetings as required.

Ensuring that the complaints management process for the Italian Branch is appropriately defined, implemented and adhered to by Branch staff.

Drive the implementation of new or amended regulation, legislation or codes of conduct with impacted business teams, working with the first line to design new or updated processes and standards.

Supporting the wider Compliance Function in testing compliance of the company (including Branch Network) with applicable laws and regulations through completion of assurance monitoring reviews and other second line processes, in line with the annual compliance function plan.

Providing in person regulatory focused training to Branch colleagues, when required.

Collaborate with a variety of business areas and stakeholders with a view to embedding a robust risk and compliance culture.

Champion a culture of good customer outcomes, supporting the first line teams in embedding conduct risk oversight throughout the product lifecycle.
Requirements:
Strong understanding of the regulatory framework required for Italian / EU Insurance Business

Proven experience operating in a second line function in an Insurance Undertaking within the Italian market. Understanding of the Central Bank of Ireland’s regulatory framework desirable.

The successful candidate will typically have experience with Insurance retail products and complaints handling.

Fluent written and spoken Italian and English required. Fluency in additional EU languages is also highly desirable such as French, Spanish or German.

Ability to organise and prioritise workloads appropriately, with strong attention to detail, and show determination and flexibility to deliver to challenging deadlines.

Ability to communicate and negotiate successfully with colleagues at all levels, up to and including Senior Executives, and build effective working relationships across the business.

Cross-functional teamwork and collaboration skills are integral to the position.
