Department Description

You will be joining an expanding regulatory team which continues to support the growth of the Bank. Reporting to the Senior Compliance Manager, you will be part of a core team responsible for successfully delivering second line of defence oversight within the Bank and will have plenty of opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge of Compliance within an SME focused bank.

Role Description

To support the development and implementation of the Bank’s Compliance Monitoring Programme. Ensuring that compliance processes and procedures are maintained and reviewed against existing bank processes, products, and regulatory guidelines. You will support the overall strategic direction of the business and always contributing to the bank’s commercial success whilst promoting the company’s values at all times.

Principal Accountabilities

Compliance

  • Support the continued development and implementation of the Bank’s Compliance Framework with a particular focus on the Compliance Monitoring Programme (“CMP”)

  • Undertaking monthly controls testing as defined in the CMP and preparing reports which will outline your results and suggested actions

  • Support the Senior Compliance Manager with undertaking business wide thematic reviews

  • Assist in the collection of data for our regulatory reporting requirements

  • Horizon Scanning

  • Work with key stakeholders to provide regulatory and compliance advice, guidance, and support

  • Manage and respond to day-to-day compliance enquiries

General

  • Support the Senior Compliance Manager and Head of Compliance/MLRO in their attendance at various executive committees, project working groups and mission squads

  • Work with our colleagues in Financial Crime to ensure a strong & collaborative approach to the various Compliance and Financial Crime Risks across the bank

  • Assist the Compliance & Financial Crime Team as it strives to become an agile, data driven department.

  • Active involvement in Conduct Risk and TCF activities.

  • Pro-actively work with the Senior Compliance Manager, Head of Compliance/MLRO and the business in order to contribute towards the Bank’s commercial success.

  • Influence the culture within the business, to deliver fair treatment of customers and good customer outcomes.

Personal Attributes & Experience
  • An understanding and experience of Compliance Monitoring, Thematic Reviews, Regulatory Reporting & the UK’s Regulatory Landscape ideally gained from a commercial banking background. Retail Banking experience will also be considered.

  • Competent technical and systems skills in order the support the development and operation of systems to support the bank’s second line of defence

  • Able to interact with a variety of colleagues and other stakeholders across the Bank and to deputise as appropriate for the Senior Compliance Manager

  • Industry recognised qualifications from institutions such as the ICA are desirable

  • Experience working within Payments Regulations is desirable

Skills Required

  • Understanding and experience of compliance monitoring, thematic reviews, regulatory reporting, and the UK's regulatory landscape
  • Commercial banking or retail banking experience
