 Summary of Purpose:

Ensure the success of the Kentucky Humane Society’s Cause-Related Marketing (CRM) and Puppy Visit programs while supporting signature fundraising events and community engagement.

Duties (Essential Functions):

  1. Coordination of Cause Related Marketing and Support Signature Events.
  • Represent the Kentucky Humane Society at Cause-Related Marketing and Puppy Visit events (where a for-profit company and a nonprofit organization team up for a cause) and other fundraising/special events, including our signature events (Waggin’ Tail, Tuxes and Tails Gala, and Pars for Pets Golf Scramble).
  • Partner with Outreach team to plan and support special events.
  • Execute logistics of special events and presentations, including but not limited to CRM’s, tabling, or fundraising events.
  • Assist PR/Marketing department with communication, publications, and website to convey necessary CRM event information.
  • Organize and manage pet calendar submissions.
  • Assist Shelter Services team to ensure animal needs are met for CRM’s and special events.
  • Support Volunteers to ensure animal/supply needs are met for CRM’s and special events.
  • Support and assist in executing logistics of fundraising events including but not limited to Waggin’ Tail, Pars for Pets and Picture Your Pets with Santa.  
  1. Coordination and Success of Puppy Visit Program
  • Execute logistics of Puppy Visits, from initial solicitation of interested businesses/organizations to the post-visit stewardship.
  • Assist Shelter Services team to ensure animal needs are met for Puppy Visits.
  • Support Volunteers to ensure animal/supply needs are met for Puppy Visits.
  • Maintain an updated calendar of monthly Puppy Visits to share with Shelter Services.
  1. Community Engagement
  • Serve as a community engagement ambassador by providing compassionate, engaging and professional service to all partners, visitors, volunteers, and supporters who interact with KHS.
  • Champion relationship-building by collaborating with the Outreach Manager to engage interested local businesses, civic groups, and individuals into active, long-term partnerships.
  • Cultivate a culture of community gratitude by executing meaningful, timely stewardship and acknowledgement practices that ensure every local supporter feels deeply connected to our mission and their local impact.
  • Partner with the Outreach Manager and other Outreach Department staff to identify and pursue community engagement opportunities that enable KHS to reach new public audiences and increase awareness of its mission and services.
  • Use relationships developed through community outreach to identify opportunities for businesses and organizations to support KHS through event sponsorships, workplace fundraisers, corporate giving, or other financial partnerships.
  • Proactively keep the Outreach Manager informed of feedback, engagement opportunities, public concerns, and operational challenges.

QualificationsQualifications/Requirements:
  • Public Relations and/or Fundraising experience preferred.
  • Extremely organized with strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Support the usage of approved AI tools when they can improve efficiency and reduce time spent on routine or administrative tasks while meeting quality, accuracy, confidentiality and professional standards.
  • Self-directed with ability to work independently/meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment with little direct supervision.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer knowledge including MS Word and Excel, with the ability to learn new software. 
  • Ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with people of all backgrounds and personalities. 
  • Must be comfortable with handling and managing animals at events. 
  • Ability to manage the emotional aspect of end-of-life services and humane euthanasia, and support staff in high-emotion circumstances.
  • Accept, support, and represent KHS core values, programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record. 
  • Background Check required.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree OR may substitute 2 years or more of related experience preferred.

Physical, Psychosocial, and Cognitive Demands/ Working Environment

  • Individual will have extended periods of sitting, talking and listening. 
  • Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, walking, and standing regularly while performing job functions.
  • Frequently lifts, carries, or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to and exceeding 50 lbs.
  • Working in an indoor desk environment includes working with animals in event settings (indoor/outdoor) in varying weather conditions.
  • Local travel – includes frequent off-site meetings and a variety of KHS locations.
  • Potential for exposure to allergens (including but not limited to pet dander, dust, peanut butter), and zoonotic diseases (diseases transferred from animals to humans).
  • Exposure to chemicals.
  • Exposure to loud noise.
  • Exposure to emotional circumstances.
  • Fast-paced environment.

Skills Required

  • Public relations and/or fundraising experience
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
