GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
This position is responsible to participate in all community outreach activities for Driscoll Health Plan (DHP). This position will be directly involved in representing the health plan at a variety of community events and meetings and will also assist in the coordination of similar efforts.

General Duties:
- Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times.
- Adheres to Health Plan and Health System policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
- Performs other duties as requested.
Community Outreach Representative Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops strategy to promote services and benefits for Driscoll Health Plan as directed by leadership.
- Carries out the communities vision, mission and goals for the DHS System.
- Promotes health programs offered by DHP with key stakeholders and partners to increase utilization of extra services.
- Identifies Medicaid community and market movement in service delivery area and county assignments.
- Analyzes Driscoll membership trends to develop both retention and Growth initiatives.
- Identifies SDOH improvement areas and organizes community events, meetings with organizations that are appropriate for outreach with regard to improving community and member health.
- Represents Driscoll Health Plan in community coalitions, committee meetings and forums that benefit or are involved in the issues of child health, Medicaid managed care, health plan programs, and community health initiatives.
- Executes projects to strengthen organizations such as school districts, special education programs, federal programs, parent groups, social services groups, political action groups, health professional and paraprofessional individuals and groups to communicate issues appropriate to DHP programs, child health, Medicaid issues, and managed care issues.
- Communicates in writing to identified entities, community leaders and organizers, health plan management and staff, and other stakeholders with regard to DHP’s participation in a variety of community programs.
- Coordinates community outreach activities directly and through health plan or community volunteers and contracted agents of DHP to staff information tables and booths are various community events.
- Provides, directly and through coordination with others, the community face of DHP.
- Performs other similar duties as assigned or as appropriate to the purpose of the position and the health plan.
- Experience in community action and organizing community events.
- Comfort with public speaking and an ability to meet with people and groups with diverse backgrounds in both English and Spanish.
- Conducts education classes for members and community following DHP program certifications.
- Excellent community and people skills.
- Understanding of, or the ability to quickly learn to use computer program for word processing.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- English/Spanish: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- DSHS Community Health Worker Certification required (can be obtained once hired).
- Valid driver’s license and an appropriately insured and maintained automobile for use in work activities.
- Must obtain the following certifications within 9 months of employment and maintain active status as established by each governing body: Triple P- Positive Parenting Program Accreditation, National Child Passenger Safety Certification, Food Handler’s Certificate
