Community Benefit Specialist
Overview
Talent Pool - Administrative & ClericalMaintains the health system's program to document community benefit activities for accurate and timely reporting to the public and to organizations required for regulatory compliance. Works with Community Outreach department to plan, publicize, and implement program to promote community health. The schedule for this position is Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm.
Responsibilities
- Works with Finance leaders to ensure compliance with state and federal community benefit regulations regarding documentation. Maintains all documentation of health system community benefit activities for purposes of IRS reporting and other compliance requirements. Includes identifying and training reporters, maintaining community benefit database, preparing periodic reports, and reviewing state and federal regulations for changes in community benefit rules. Service area is system-wide.
- Manages community benefit data utilizing specialized software or other designated tools. Works with Data Analytics to develop and implement a framework for evaluating health outcomes data to report progress and provide evaluation of community health improvement goals.
- Partners with Strategy and Center for Health Equity leaders to guide the development and execution of data-informed initiatives addressing specific health needs as identified in the Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) and other sources. Ensures that community benefit activities are developed in ways
that recognize and address social determinants of health and health equity. Aligns population health improvement with community benefit by identifying best practices to improve quality of life and reduce health disparities in the community.
- Works with Center for Health Equity leadership to develop and market community engagement and education programs, including events associated with the Community Health Needs Assessment. Duties include supporting conceptual and logistical planning, budgeting, recruitment, marketing, and appropriate follow-up. Approximately 6-8 large events (70+ participants) and 50-60 small to medium sized events (15-69 participants) annually. Service area is system-wide.
- Works with Marketing, Philanthropy and Government Affairs to prepare a public-facing Community Benefit Report annually. Collaborates with Marketing to employ media resources that effectively share the organization's community benefit practices across multiple platforms. Develops and maintains an up
to date website detailing Cone Health's community benefit activities.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:Required: Bachelor's Degree
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Knowledge of state and federal regulations and definitions of hospital community benefit.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Experience with CBISA software
Preferred: Training in Results-Based Accountability (RBA)

*If driving Cone Health vehicle, must have 5 years of driving experience and MVR must be approved by Risk Management.
