The Communications Specialist II creates and executes earned media to meet corporate objectives for BoatUS Membership, Towing and Foundation. This person will lead the PR efforts and promote the BoatUS brand. This role will report into the Manager, Boat Marketing.

Essential Functions include:

• Strategy and execution- creates, plans and manages earned media efforts
• Works with outside public relations agency on earned media efforts and pitching story ideas
• Creates and executes special events with key stakeholders
• Researches, writes and directs distribution of press releases
• Responds to all BoatUS media inquiries, arranges interviews and selects company personally authorized to speak to the media
• Represents BoatUS at media events and speaking engagements
• Manages and develops media target lists
• Tracks and reports earned media activities and measures programs efficacy
• Facilitates Government Affairs policy communications

Requirements:

• 4 year degree in Communications, Marketing or PR
• 3+ years of media experience
• Ability to balance multiple priories and meet project deadlines
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to lead presentations
• Self-starter who provides proactive brand advocacy
• Ability to travel up to 15%

Location:

• Hybrid 3 days onsite, 2 days remote

Annual Salary

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
