The University of Miami, Division of Enrollment Management, has an exciting opportunity for a full time Communications Specialist to work remote.  

The Communications Specialist coordinates the planning, production, and delivery of communications across Enrollment Management, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely execution. This role manages communication workflows, supports CRM-based communications, and collaborates with campus partners to improve processes and enhance the student experience. The individual will help to create, manage, and implement a robust, yet flexible, communications process. The Communication Specialist should have a keen eye for detail, be skilled at editing and proofreading content, exhibit a talent for critical thinking and have excellent written and oral communication skills. The person in this role must be self-motivated, interested in learning about and engaging with new ideas and concepts.

Department specific functions:

  • Assists in the development and implementation of an annual comprehensive communications and marketing plan that supports institutional goals in collaboration with the Office of Financial Aid and Registrar team.
  • Oversees the communication deployment process, including set up, configuration, testing, and delivery of official communications though the Slate CRM system.
  • Maintains a comprehensive list of all communications, including delivery method, timeline, link to drafts, accompanying forms, etc.
  • Manages communications calendars and updates timelines. Keeps appropriate parties informed and identifies areas for attention to avoid delays, ensure effective results, and meet deadlines.
  • Manages the communication review process, including financial aid letters, collaborating with the EM leadership team in the development of new and revised materials.
  • Reviews digital assets and website content for accuracy, consistency, accessibility, and alignment with institutional standards.
  • Actively participates in the Slate community to identify best practices, trends, and new opportunities for workflow and system enhancements to streamline processes and increase effectiveness of the tool.
  • Assists with the development of messaging strategies and communication campaigns.
  • Reviews content for brand consistency and audience engagement. Provides recommendations to improve communication effectiveness through analytics and reporting.

Core Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • At least two (2) years of relevant work experience in higher education preferred.
  • Experience working in a Student Information System, database and/or CRM required.
  • Exceptional written and communication skills and proven ability to multi-task with consistently high accuracy.
  • Ability to concentrate and not be distracted while performing a task.
  • Great attention to detail, excellent grasp of spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player and independently, producing timely and high-quality results.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of employees across campus.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) required.
  • Experience working with Slate or another CRM.
  • Knowledge of computer system capabilities, business processes, workflow, and office equipment.
  • Ability to learn conditional logic, liquid markup, and query writing.
