Job Summary:

The Corporate Communications team leads strategic communications programs that engage, inspire and align employees with La-Z-Boy’s vision, culture, and strategy, and promote our brand, telling the important stories across the organization that reflect our industry leadership.
In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to work on impactful communications initiatives that enhance our culture and the employee experience, as well as tell the compelling story of how La-Z-Boy is delivering the transformational power of comfort, while evolving for the next century. This position is responsible for developing and delivering effective communication strategies that inform and educate employees, help inspire engagement and drive business results across the organization. Oversees internal communications strategy, channels, tactics and editorial calendar to ensure consistency of messages and alignment across the enterprise. Serves as communications expert with stakeholders and leadership, with a deep understanding of various communication channels available and best practices to ensure key messages are delivered effectively and consistently. Supports development and execution of content that elevates the visibility of La-Z-Boy externally to communicate new store openings, acquisitions, financial results, and strategic initiatives. Routinely evaluates programs and their success metrics and adjust plans accordingly to drive continuous improvement of communications strategy and overall function.

Job Description:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties as assigned):

  • Develop and implement enterprise internal communication strategies and programs that engage, inspire, and align employees with La-Z-Boy’s brand, vision, priorities and key initiatives.
  • Oversee daily internal communications for employees across Corporate, Retail, Portfolio and Manufacturing, leveraging global internal channels to deliver consistent and timely information.
  • Lead the planning and execution of quarterly all employee business updates including global employee town hall and business update videos, as well as acquisition announcements and new store openings.
  • Support key corporate events aligned with strategic objectives (Board, Executive Leadership Team) by providing communications expertise and support (event content, planning, talking points, slides, and other materials) to achieve objectives.
  • Produce materials including emails, newsletters, organizational announcements, FAQs, slide presentations, intranet content, blogs, video scripts, site monitor content and talking points for leadership.
  • Support change management initiatives with strategy, development and distribution of content, ensuring alignment of messaging across the organization.
  • Work with senior management team on corporate announcements, keeping all information in the strictest of confidence.
  • Provide internal communication advice and counsel to executive leadership and senior management and develop materials that ensure voice and tone of communications is in alignment with brand messaging and image.
  • Develop and maintain an enterprise-wide editorial calendar for all internal communications for company, working in close partnership with Marketing, Human Resources, Retail, Portfolio Brands, and other Corporate partners on content development to ensure balanced representation throughout the year.
  • Support development of content for social media, press releases, media relations activities and employer branding campaigns, working in partnership with Corporate Communications, Marketing, Investor Relations and Human Resources.
  • Manage external agency partners to drive creative execution and program implementation, when appropriate.
  • Implement consistent measurement of strategies, campaigns and events to evaluate success and drive continuous improvement.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field with at least 6-8 years of relevant experience or equivalent
  • Experience in corporate communications and knowledge of best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective communication strategies that drive measurable results
  • Strong writer with ability to write for executives, business partners, and build effective campaigns
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, including the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously for different audiences
  • Passion for driving connections between employees and leadership and approaching situations with a positive mindset
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and executive presence, with the ability to successfully influence leadership and business partners, as well as collaborate on projects
  • Strong organization and planning skills
  • Proactive, self-starter with previous work experience in fast-paced environment with proven ability to execute
  • Computer proficiency and experience with Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. 
  • Up to 20% Travel

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree
  • Knowledge of digital landscape and experience using internal employee engagement platforms (First Up)
  • General experience using Canva and other graphic design tools
  • Knowledge of press release distribution tools (GlobeNewswire, BusinessWire, PR Newswire).
  • Knowledge of social media best practices and tools like Hootsuite, Sprinklr, Sprout Social for social media management
