The NG UK Communications Manger leads the development, integration and execution of the strategic communication plan aligned to the organisation’s strategic priorities. The role scope will also include the execution of NG UK’s Marcomms activities- media, brand development and employee communication strategies.
NG UK is one of six focus countries in NGC’s global expansion strategy. The current operation of approximately 500+ employees. The pipeline for business is projected to deliver significant revenue growth. NG UK needs to create a platform to support that growth and continue the theme of internationalisation assisting Northrop Grumman in becoming a truly global player.
Responsibilities:
- Design and facilitate the implementation of an integrated communication strategy which builds NG UK’s reputation externally, and NG culture internally.
- Collaborate with the International; Corporate and Sector Communication teams for relevant approvals; guidance and to optimise synergies.
- Assist in developing the communication of strategies or messages from senior leadership
- Deliver structured engagement with customers, media, employees and the community including via events, partnerships and membership organisations.
- Develop key employee communications channels and content including key messages from the UK Leadership team
- Continue to evolve the NG UK digital presence through channels such as NG.com, LinkedIn and the NG UK intranet.
- Liaise with media and handle requests for interviews, statements by senior leadership etc.
- Foster relationships with advocates and key persons which will be critical to development of the NG UK market presence and brand.
- Provide subject matter expertise and advice to senior leaders and internal communication professionals.
- Lead, coach and develop the direct reports.
- Ensure communications budgets, schedules, and performance standards are met.
- Represent NG UK as internal & external contact on communication initiatives; have regular interaction with director & VP-level customer management; have influence over customer perceptions/opinions.
- Role model the NG corporate leadership behaviours and values.
- Work with the Trade Show Steering Committee to deliver NGUK’s participation at all UK tier 1 trade shows, including DSEI and RIAT
- Work with NGUK’s leadership and BD teams to facilitate NGUK’s participation at events including event strategy, branding and collateral, invitations and on-the-ground event management
- Manage NGUK’s relationships with membership organisations, think tanks, charities and STEM partners

We are looking for:
- Developing end-to-end, multi-channel communications plans
- Providing communication advice on a range of business issues such as market conditions fluctuate
- Excellent level of written and verbal English
- Identifying and acting on communication opportunities and challenges resulting from business or macro-level change
- Leading the successful implementation of customer events
- Writing media releases, speeches and feature stories for external publication
- Delivering external communications campaigns, earned and unearned, via web and social media (LinkedIn particularly) to multiple audiences
- Managing and leveraging relationships with third party stakeholder organisations, e.g. membership organisations, professional bodies, media agencies think tanks etc.
- Developing and implementing an operational budget
