Overview:
The Communications Lead will be responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies that amplify our mission, engage stakeholders, and enhance our brand visibility. This role involves managing digital and traditional media, storytelling, content creation, and public relations efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Communications & Brand Management
Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with the organization’s mission and goals.
Ensure consistent messaging and branding across all communication channels.
Manage and refine the organization’s voice to effectively engage diverse audiences, including donors, partners, and the public.
Content Creation & Storytelling
Develop compelling content, including blog posts, newsletters, press releases, social media posts, and reports.
Oversee the creation of visual and multimedia content, working with designers and videographers as needed.
Identify and share impactful stories that highlight the organization’s work and impact.
Digital & Social Media Management
Manage and grow the organization’s social media presence across platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.).
Oversee website content updates and ensure SEO best practices.
Track engagement metrics and optimize content based on analytics.
Public Relations & Media Outreach
Cultivate relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers.
Draft and distribute press releases and media advisories.
Coordinate interviews, media events, and speaking opportunities for leadership.
Stakeholder Engagement & Internal Communications
Support communication efforts for fundraising campaigns, special events, donor relations, and partnerships.
Collaborate with program teams to ensure consistent messaging and promotion of initiatives.
Develop internal communications strategies to keep staff and volunteers informed and engaged.
These qualities and skills will be helpful:
Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
Proficiency in social media management, email marketing platforms, and website content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite) is a plus.

What We Do
The Spokane County Democratic Central Committee (SCDCC), known as the Spokane County Democrats, is a local political organization in Washington state. It focuses on electing Democratic candidates to public office and promoting a platform based on human rights, social justice, and economic equity. The organization works to register voters, endorse candidates, and advocate for policies that benefit the community and ensure equal opportunity for all.
