The Manager, Brand & Communications drives execution across Skillz’s owned-channel and brand content ecosystem. Reporting to the Head of Communications, this role is responsible for delivering consistent, high-quality storytelling that supports measurable engagement and brand growth across social, web, and community platforms.

This is a hands-on leadership role that manages and develops a junior content team while setting a clear bar for clarity, consistency, and performance. The role offers meaningful visibility to senior leadership and the opportunity to influence Skillz’s brand trajectory and audience growth engine.

Responsibilities 

  • Manage the planning and execution of brand content across owned channels, including social media, blog, website, and online communities, ensuring consistency in voice, tone, and visual standards.

  • Own social media presence and audience engagement across platforms, refining content approach based on performance and audience behavior.

  • Monitor, interpret, and report on performance across social media, brand health, SEO, and earned media metrics; use insights to inform content direction and drive measurable improvements against defined KPIs.

  • In partnership with the Head of Communications, translate company priorities and brand initiatives into focused content plans tied to defined KPIs.

  • Manage and develop a team of junior content creators, providing ongoing feedback and clear expectations for output quality.

  • Continuously improve content workflows and publishing processes to increase consistency and impact.

Experience 

  • 5+ years of experience in communications, brand, social media, or related roles.

  • 2+ years of experience as a people manager, with demonstrated ability to develop and mentor junior team members while elevating overall content quality and consistency.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Business, or a related field; or equivalent education and experience.

  • Demonstrated experience managing social media channels for a consumer or technology brand.

  • Strong writing and editing skills with attention to tone, clarity, and consistency.

  • Experience creating or overseeing digital content for online platforms.

  • Comfortable using AI tools to support content ideation, drafting, and editing while maintaining accuracy, originality, and brand standards.

  • Experience partnering with cross-functional teams to interpret performance data and inform content strategy preferred.

  • Experience in gaming, consumer technology, or high-growth digital platforms preferred.

Total Starting Compensation including Base + Bonus + Equity: $172,882

Location: Onsite 5 days a week, Las Vegas 

Travel Requirement: Less than 10%
